salmon egg cures

Post by trout magnet » Sun Jun 10, 2007 11:07 am

Does any one have a good recipe for curing salmon eggs for bait? I have some sitting in my freezer from last year and would like to use them.

Check your skeins for freezer burn if they've been frozen for any amount of time.
I've always used 1 cup borax, 1 cup salt (non iodized) 1 cup of sugar and some dark red food coloring if you have lighter colored skeins. After you've soaked them for about 15 to 30 minutes air dry them then lightly roll them in more borax. Works well for me...
