Far western lakes
I'm gonna be in Port Townsend Aug. 26th through 30th and was hoping someone could fill me in on some good bass spots over on the pininsula. Rivers, Lakes, whatever.... as long as its not to far away. No boat, shore fish And Lake Washington is stocked with Striped Bass yes? Thanks for any info offered.
RE:Far western lakes
Ozette(way west, past Forks) Sandy Shore has them but seems to be hard to get. If you can drift a little south on the Peninsula,I'd try Cushman. There are others but can't seem to recall them at the moment.
Good luck

Leland...also good for bass (4 ½ miles north of Quilcene)
Hope this helps...good luck!

RE:Far western lakes
I have fished just about every lake around the area your asking about.
Don't go to Anderson, I think it is still closed due to the toxic algae bloom. Not that great for bass anyways. Really good lake for trout when it's not trying to kill people.
Leland is a good lake to pick up a couple of bass but has just a small stretch of shoreline and a fishing dock. This lake can be hit or miss though. The potential to pump out a hawg but can quickly send you packing with a skunk.
SandyShores is ok for bass. You'll pick up a lot of dinks but they have been getting bigger throughout the years. Great trout lake though. Very Deep! Just walk along the brushy shoreline until you find an opening or log you can walk out on. Both ways from the launch for a hundred yards or so have a couple shore fishing spots. After that, better bring your machetti.
Other than that your looking at needing a small boat/canoe or float tube. A lot of these lakes have a ton of vegetation around them and are not developed at all. Which is nice when your on the water out in the middle of no where and you don't have to stare at houses. But you have to find a way on the water.
Mike Carey is still selling his float tube for a heavy discount if you want to go that route. Foat Tube
Or you can hit up someone on the boards around that area and ask them to take you out while your here.
Other than that your looking at a little drive time. Not to bad if you want to get on some fish. Hope this helps you out a little more. Feel free to PM me. Also, Bob Johanson and Trent Hale know this area pretty well too. Hopefully they'll jump in here but if not shoot them a PM too. They can dial ya in as well.
And I have never heard of a Striped Bass coming out of Lake Washington or it being stoked with them.
