hey I was curious, I know some of you guys use 50-80lb braid on your your rods. I use 65lb tufline for lingcod and a penn 209 reel with a pretty stiff fiberglass rod. I just wondered what kind of rod you would use in fresh water to acomidate such strong line.

Well actually most of us don't use the line rating for the rods when we use braid. For example, I have a great 6'6", medium heavy, fast action, 8-17 pound bait casting rod that is my go to rod.
I use 15 to 50 pound braided line on the rod for bass.
I have another that is a 8' heavy action, rated to 25 pound line, that I run 50 to 80 pound line on.
The key is to not over stress your rod when fighting weeds. (LOL)

Too much water, so many fish, too little time.
