Night fishing at Kapowsin?

Post by AaronE » Wed Jul 23, 2008 7:29 am

Anyone here fished Kapowsin at night? After my first trip there this weekend I'm really liking this lake and want to see how the night bite is.

I know the state boat launch area closes at dusk, but I saw lots of people fishing the shoreline west of the launch, parking on Kapowsin Hwy and walking down the paths to the water. Looks like a good place to launch a tube, so just wondering if anyone has done this, if the Sheriff Dept out that way is okay with it, etc.

I'm not sure if the Pierce County Sheriffs Office would/or would not have an issue. My best guess would be no.But don't quote me on that. I'd just worry about the meth heads....they come out when the sun goes down, like some alien race.
I'd be willing to check it out if you ever want to meet up.I won't let the meth heads dictate my fishing trips anymore.

We can leave my 70# Chow in the car :-"
If they want to break in and steal change bad enough, I'm sure he would LOVE the opportunity to eat someone's face off.

I'll be back in town by Saturday night - my wife is running the Ragnar Relay this Friday (Blaine to Langley) so we should be back in plenty of time for me to do some fishing. I'll shoot ya a PM with my cell number and we can figure it out.

Be careful what you ask for - after spending 10 years in IT support, I have an extensive collection of viruses here at the house hehe... At last count I had about 4000 viruses on CD. You never know when they'll come in handy :-"

We'll definitely hook up soon. Might have to get a few of the local tubers together and make a night of it.

Float tubing in Kapowsin would scare the crap out of me. Kicking along and then thud, your leg hits a big stump. Hope you don't pop your tube on some wood, at night that could be deadly...

Oh, I've already thought of that. Fishing Kapowsin in the daytime is creepy enough, especially in a tube. I bumped a few stumps this past weekend and each time my stomach dropped. But I think I'm relatively safe - fat people are naturally bouyant

Still, I'd rather night fish it with a buddy. And I'd probably be inclined to wear a PFD, just so my wife wouldn't be calling me every 5 minutes to see if she's hit the life insurance jackpot.

I might be stuck on the shore...I have 2 pontoons but I think it may be a little difficult to get them down the trail.
I may need to start browsing float tubes. I'll still go regardless

I know a spot that we can park right by the water. Cross a fallen tree and in the water. I'd say 20' maybe. And on pretty flat area too. If I can make it I'll bring the boat. Don't want to tube this lake.

Yea I've got some lead tweek I'll give at no charge. Thats why I will bring the boat so to get back faster! If you bring the dog he will let us know right fast if some ones around. I may just bring the bow with my "night sights" Need some target time and its better to shoot at moving targets. Were you talking Sat or Fri. Is sparky and Chris comming out also?

Don't have access to my bro's AR at this time lol, so don't think I'll be coming. Kapowsin in the day time, maybe! if you get someone to watch the parking lot.
