While fishing some times when I move the boat I'll let the 12in worm drag bottom but the best for me is fishing structure. I have caught fish doing that.

When fishing gets slow in the winter time I drag it a little but not constantly, I usually stop it and drag it. I should try a constant drag sometime won't hurt. I agree with trent though I look for some type of structure to target though!

Drag a drop shot while drifting in the wind, when you get a little tired it will pay off.

When I was a kid, we use to "drag" big blue or black rubber worms at up to 60' deep in Roosevelt Reservoir above Phoenix AZ in the Salt River Chain of lakes. This must have been 40 years ago, soon after I think Adam was kicked out of the Garden of Eden (LOL).

It was not a method for normal fishing, but for the 115 degree days of the middle of summer, and for the dead of winter.

It worked, but it is a bit boring. We used it to locate fish, but seldom found it as the "best bet". But then again, I was a kid, and what did dad or I now about Bass fishing 40 years ago.

I use a similar method for Walleye today on Washington's Roosevelt, over the sand flats, with football jig. Sometimes, .............

Oh ya, draggings the way to go. I mostly due it in winter months but in a boat when the wind picks up I will let my plastics drag awhile. This technique works. I usually drag creature baits like a brush hog or grub.
I will pop it a little while draggin without reeling up any line. Most of the time a bass will be tracking it on the bottom and that little pop will entice them to bite.

I find it boring, but effective way to fish. You need to drag in these larger lakes like Sammamish and Washington just to see where they are at. I usually drag more in late winter/early spring at 40 to 50 ft.

Dragging dropshots work too, I usually have a little more tag line when I drag.

I've tried it a few times on Lake Wa en route to another spot with no hits,..kinda boring though to me it's alot like trolling for RBT with a wedding ring and a worm,..good quetion JT!
