WOW I am hooked!!!!!!

Post by fishaholictaz » Sun Jun 29, 2008 10:03 pm

I spent the weekend down on the Cow and area lakes an I caught my first Muskie at Mossy Rock fish hatchery! It was only about 20 or so inches but it hit HARD:eye: I also saw one cruising well over 40 inches it looked like a log with teeth:pale: ! I just wanted to thank you guys for the insite that made it possible I once believed it was a hard or special thing to catch a muskie but you showed me any body could do it :salut: (case in point Kevinb :-" )

ps the guys down there said quite a few have been in that area resently the big one was right where the water comes out of the hatchery the little guy was caught casting a big trout colored floating rapala toward the net pens aginst the trees.

Heyah Taz...contrats on your first Musky..just remember if someone asks why with a "Y" at the end tell them because thats the right way to spell it..The Wisconsin Way is the right way.."I E" is if you see or miss or loose or catch more than one. "Y" is singular "IE" is Plural. Don't let the Minnesotans tell you anything different..most Minnesotans I know see, miss or loose fish thats why they spell it ..."I E "...alright. Yup that was a shot!
You always have to have a camera. your a bass guy..you should know this..I know things happen. We will let it go only this one time..he he. Or use a cell phone camera..there you go...congrats again to you!

Congratulations, Taz. Now you are in for it. 9 hours throwing cranks, all beer & cig money going for lures, finding excuses to hang out, at not just any lake, but muskie lakes... spending HOURS looking at muskie gear catalogs. YER A GONNER!

BTW, Here is a little story about cameras:
It was my first time to hunt for muskies. 1993. Black Bear Lodge on the Chippewa Flowage in Wisconsin. September, when the big girls are fat and sassy. I was the back seater, with an old pro up front. We pulled out at oh- dark- thirty and got underway. 40 hs Johnson, so the going was slow but steady. Got out around the Big Banana Island and further..We’d been gone about 1 ½ hours heading for a special spot. My partner looks around and say “ You did remember the camera, didn’t ya?”

I didn’t.
He turned around and we went back.

He said: “It’s only a fish story if there is no picture, and it would be my luck to put a trophy in the net today, with no camera.”

I learned:If the rods go in, the camera goes in.
......................
and Oh yeah: it's Muskie. Don't let them cheesheads corrupt yer spellin'.
Tiger Muskies are sterile.
You can't keep them under 50 inches:
Let them do their job: Eating N.P.Minnows

Finally made it to tapps and got to try for some muskies for a little while. I didn't catch any but I saw about 8 small muskies. they were all allot shallower than I thought they would be. Closest I got to getting one was with a yum dancing eel. I also tried a couple different bucktails, some banjos, and some jerkbaits.

Might try mayfield sometime soon and hope to hook one up.
