I'm raising my 10-year-old grandson and he's an avid fisherman. He's also bugging me to get him into some crappie.

We live 10 minutes from Lk. Sawyer and I've not fished it for Crappie in over 30 years. Willing to drive a bit ( Tanwax, Ohop etc.?)

I'm offering a seat on my 17' boat and all the fishin' stories you can stand if you are willing to help a kid get some!
Possible Pt. Defiance trips too!

I'd try Lake Sawyer first..Its right there and there are some BIG crappies in there...and smallies too! I'd take you up on the offer but I'm a bit booked up right now..Todd

I like the question asked and I'm in the same situation.I love fishing.I have a nice 16' boat all set up .I dont have many fishing friends,and I too would love to learn better ways in catching the panfish .Perch is a total no brainer but them crappie arent that easy to catch for me.
Maybe sometime within WL.Com members we could have some basic clinics at lakes around Wa state and maybe some of the more prolific crappie catchers or trouters could give some basics techniques in helping some of us less fortunate to catch kinda guys (and gals).
Just a thought.I have some great perch spots on Lake Wa that I've fished for years and always done well on large perch.I was so jealos after seeing the pics of Slabkings crappie he caught.His pics of dem fish had my mouth watering for a filet of crappie sandwich.Hehehe.

Sawyer is soooo close to home!

Haven't fished it for years for whatever reasons. (mostly been fishing saltwater) I'm open to suggestions as to how/where to fish it for crappie tho--

I've found what I think are some brush piles I knew of in the 70's and am wondering about how to fish them.

Beetlespins? Jigs under a bobber? Suggestions please!!????

I really need to get him on some fish ASAP. (need it for me, too :)
