My final outing for this season... tips please?

Post by Gotcha » Tue Jun 17, 2008 7:51 am

Well, this weekend will be my last time to make it out this season and I can't really say it's been a great season for me. I'm deploying for 6 months and I want to make this weekend of fishing better than the last few. So I'm asking the Spokane County guys, where should I go for a good send off? I've been to Clear lake, Silver lake, Medical, West Medical and Liberty Lake. Should I try one of these again or go somewhere else? Also, I've been using mostly tubes and worms recently for bass, again, with not a lot of luck. What else should I try??

I did well at Silver with cranks...mainly x-raps blue/silver.
Be safe out there and get home soon. Take care and good luck

Are you in a boat or on shore?

Long lake is going off right now, bass are definitely feeding like its spawn time

If you care to switch to trout, my buddy and I did really well @ Badger last weekend. We even caught some bass during a half-hearted half-hour before we had to pull out. That lake pretty much never lets us down. I posted a report, if you want to look it up.

Good luck, and be safe on your deployment!

UPDATED: I brainfarted. Didn't realize this was posted in the bass section. We did hit a few bass in Badger, but I'm sure there are lakes that produce better. If you just want to feel the tug on the line and don't care the fish on the other end, then Badger's a good bet for trout.

Gotcha,

good luck on your deployment. I would suggest Banks lake for Smallmouth. I wen't two weeks ago, and did great 30+ smallies, and a few largemouth in two days of solid fishing from a boat. You can rent boats there too, but ask around for advice..it is a large lake.

Depending on where you are going, and I know you shouldn't say, there are fishing clubs sprouting up. Check out www.baghdadflyfishing.com/ or do a web search. Some of these places have MONSTER carp and other exotic fish.

Keep your head down!

Long is your best bet for numbers and among the best bets for size too, for both smallmouth and largemouth. Lots of 5 lb smallies and plenty of 6 lb largies. Due to the horrid water levels thus far this year it has seen minimal pressure compared to other years, which is something to consider.

Well, thanks for the tips guys but my hopes for one last outing have been flushed down the drain. They pushed my date up and I'll be leaving earlier than expected. So, unfortunately, other priorities have come up. Maybe next season!

I'm off! :salut:

Be safe, a friend of mine is headed out next week for bases abroad as well, so take care of yourself and your brothers/sisters.
