Favorite Hard Baits?

my favorite hard bait is a floating Rapala in any color imaginable. they work for almost any fish in the water.

I was down in Tacoma for baseball, so took the trip to Lacey and the Cabela's there!

I picked up a Rapala jointed shad, Rapala rattlin' sinker, Rapala x-rap slashbait, Cabela's floating minnow (only $2!), Cabela's Top Popper, and a "Scum Frog" weedless frog.

I'm going to try them out today!

Growing up in Georgia, one of the best hardbaits you could throw was a black Jitterbug. Wait until the sun was going down and toss it as close to wood structure as you could and then reel it in. No stopping and starting or fancy retrieves - go fast or slow, just stay constant so the bass could zero in on it once it got dark. I still have a few in my tackle box but haven't tied one on up here yet. I always found them to work best once the temp was over 85 degrees and obviously that hasn't happened so far this year.

For fishing weedlines and pads, nothing beats a buzzbait early in the morning and late in the evening. Most of the time the color doesn't even matter - as long as it's chattering, the bass will demolish it.

Full moon fishing is the best. There's no question where your lure is - you can see the jagged reflections of moonlight in the wake. And when you get a big hit, it looks like the water explodes with moonlight. That totally rocks.

AaronE take those jitterbugs out of your tacklebox! I start catching fish with them after the spawn. Jitterbugs are awsome but the only flaw is you can't cast them very far.

My "Bread-n-Butter",..Jointed Perch Rapala,...I like it so much I have 4 just in case I lose 1,..LOL

Hey BB , I Use those jointed rapalas aswell and i will agree that they are one of the best smallie cranks . However i would advise you to explore all colors in that crank .. That perch is a go to color but iv found that if i catch more than two dinks ill switch to a different color and that has produced bigger fish .. My only point im tring to make is "not to get caught up in that one color" thats just one factor for that bait , I personaly believe that it's the size and the action more so then color ..

Experiment with that and see what a difference for you as well .. Also dont forget to swap out that back treb hook with a bigger one (increases your hook up ratio) .. those tiny trebs that come on there will lose a good fish ..

Hey Dez,..as a matter of fact I think I've purchased every color I could find in the Jointed Series,..LOL,..I haven't switched the trebles tho,..gonna try that,..hey you think red trebles would make a difference? Seems to me they would? I'll post a thread on it.

Just got my Swimbaits for my upcoming trip 2 the Potholes,..haven't tossed them yet but I might hit Stevens B4 we leave,..trying 2 land some BIGGER BASS so I'm throwin BIGGER BAITS,..Bass Candy from Basstradamus and the other is the SK-KING-STRIKE,..so we'll see,..I went 2 Seward Pk Boat Launch and played around with both,..man what action,..can't wait!
