Thanks for the laugh guys. If you have ever met Dez, he deserves all the crap you can throw at him for all the sh!t talking he does on the water. Funnest guy to fish with, but you have to know how how to dish it out too. You guys have him pinned down.
Sorry Dez, your due for some slinging.

thanks for sharing that ad. I've been looking around for a new baitcaster, and that deal was too good to pass up. I've never even seen one in person or held the reel yet. Call me crazy. Figured if I didn't like it someone on here would buy it off me or I'd put it on Craig's List.

I need a rod now, and almost bought a Lamiglass Competitor with it, but figured I better not get the cart too far before the horse. I'll go down to Outdoor Emporium or Cabela's or somewhere WITH the reel and match it up. Got any ideas on a good all-purpose rod for it? Something to throw pretty much anything except light(er) baits? I use my spinning set up for that.

Thanks

Look for the Competitor CC664. It is an all arounder rated for 3/8 -1 oz lures, and 8-20# test. The four means medium action, but I know this rod can set the hook with single hook lures. I've seen the price jump from its $65 price at OR jump to the $80s like Joes, so if I were you, I'd rush down to OE to see if there are any left at the old price. The higher priced ones were not different unless Lami changed the guides.

Dez,

Stop posting such enticing stuff!!! I, trying to save up to buy a Daiwa Pixy!!!

On other forums, a name has been given to that urge that makes you buy fishing gear when deep down you know you really don't need it. This covers rods, reels, lures and whatever item tempts you to buy. Everyone has one. Its name is the bait monkey. If you felt the sudden urge to break out your wallet and buy fishing gear on impulse (and even careful planning), that was the bait monkey whispering in your ear to get it. :bom:

Thanks for the reply islandbass. I was looking at the Competitor CC661. I have a Loomis MBR 784C IM6 rod that I've had forever that is rated exactly the same as the Competittor CC664. That just seems a little heavy. I rarely, if ever, throw any baits that are over 1/2 oz, and usually fish pretty shallow since I'm in a float tube. I just need a rod that will cast spinnerbaits, cranks, buzzbaits, etc. that are usually about 1/4 to 3/8 oz. Fishing the Loomis rod at that rating with these baits feels like I'm fishing with a stick.

If I wanted to upgrade from a Competitor series rod, and get a new Loomis (or?) what would you suggest?

Thanks

I have 2 10% off coupons for the place that BBD linked to. I wasn't smart enough to figure out how to get them until after I ordered. If you are really going to order something from there, PM me for the code.

I wish I would have seen the previous post, because I just ordered 2 energy baitcasters. I got a new burner for my flippin stick and another 6.2-1 to replace an older worn out reel. Thanks again Dez for the heads up on this great deal.

I got my reel in the mail today. Wow. It is really awesome. I can't belive the price I got it for. I'm really looking forward to trying it out. It's the first baitcaster I've bought in over 15-20 years. I'm not that old, I've just been bass fishing for a long time with a spinning set-up. I have an old rod I'm going to pair it with. An old Phenix boron rod I used to fish with back in the day in Cali. Back when all the bass rods were 5 1/2 feet. lol This reel feels great on it. Thanks again Dez for the tip :)

Oh I got a shirt and hat. They sent me an XL (out of large, needed medium anyway) that I won't wear, and I won't wear the hat. Anybody can have them, but you have to come to Seattle to get them.

I'm not thanking you for $hit. All you do is make me spend money.

I got mine yesterday and am sending out the rebate today. Dez- find me a cheap rod now that you had to show me this reel deal.

As hooked said- Any who wants a hat let me know. I'll keep my shirt though. I might wear it fishing. Bloody it up a bit. LOL
