lake Mcmurray help
im heading up to lake mcmurray this memorial weekend and have never fished this lake before. i have heard that there is a lot of fish in this lake but have no idea where the best spots are. can anyone help me out?
RE:lake Mcmurray help
Haven't fished it this year, but was doing well with dick nites (medium) in green w/ a white back, split shot about 2' up, trolling dead slow. Also red wedding rings w/ a piece of worm.
I have a buddy with property there, and we've done some shore fishing with powerbait and done okay as well.
IIRC, they stock some 17,000 'bows there this year. I would think fishing would be pretty decent.
FWIW, there was a black bear in the area rummaging through peoples' yards about 2 weeks ago.

If you have a boat, in front of the RV park and on both sides, plus the point across from the
park is good. I troll a wedding ring in that area, and let the fish bites & fish finder help you
find the best spots. Chartruse, yellow, red work good there. Down by the public boat launch
you can catch black croppie. If the water is still cold trout hang out there to, about 100 yards
out. The bigger ones are at the other end. Give a report when you get back.

RE:lake Mcmurray help
I ended up fishing mcmurray sunday morning and monday afternoon and only got one small bite. the water temp. was pretty consistant at about 65 degrees and i only say about 3 people the whole weekend that actually caught fish. i tryed trolling wedding rings of different colors (mainly red and green), flat fish, spoons, and flies behind pop gear and dodgers around the whole lake for about 4 hours combined the whole weekend and still fished off the bottom with powerbait for about an hour and still nothing. i also through out a buzzbait and some lizzards texas riged to see if i could hookup with some bass around the logs on the point and the cove next to it and in the weeds along the south side of the lake but nothing to even suggest that there were and bass in good numbers even though they should be spawning now. over all i wasent very impressed with the lake but in dose have good senery and provides a relaxing spot to escape for a couple hours, even if you dont catch anything.
