Yea, we will be able to fish for salmon this year. Salt and Rivers. All that has been cancelled is the commercial fisheries off of CA and Oregon coast...

Some rivers will be closed and some areas will not be open when others are. But you will have a chance at fishing for salmon this year....

SO FAR INLAND, JUST THE SPRINGER RUN ON THE LOWER COLUMBIA, BUT, HAVE HEARD DRANO,ETC, WAS STILL OPEN. DO NOT KNOW HOW LONG THEY WILL REMAIN OPEN, SINCE, THEY ARE STILL DISCUSSING SOME OF THOSE SEASONS. MY DAD HAS BEEN CALLING THE WDFW WEEKLY FOR ANY UPDATES. IF ANYONE HEARS ANYTHING ELSE, LET ME KNOW. I GOT MY INFO FROM IFISH.NET, AND, MY DAD.

I have a place between wesport and grayland/tokeland on the highway and was wondering if anyone knew any good beaches, piers or rivers to fish around there? Bottom fish salmon anything...specific locations? what to use? what time of year? anything helps just trying to get started on the west side of the state!

Fishing the Cal and Oregon coasts are pretty much shut down for everybody, sport and commercial.
Up here things are not great, but we will be fishing. Overall Coho are supposed to be down this year, as well as most Salmon fisheries. South Puget Sound Kings look to be slightly up this year from last, the only bright spot on a dim forecast.

The jetty at Westport is good for bottom fishing, sand shrimp are a good bait along with clam necks and Herring. Also the boardwalk area in Westport is good bottom fishing.
The Westport boat basin is good salmon fishing when they are in. Blue Fox Vibrax #4 for adults, and bobber and eggs work well for Jacks. Check the regs, Salmon in the Boat basin usually opens in August with a 6 fish limit, 4 of which can be adults. It may change this year because of projected week runs.
You can also catch Surf Perch just about anywhere along the beach, same baits as bottom fishing.
There are a lot of good rivers to fish in the area. You cross a few of them going to Wesport.:-"

So far in area 2-2 there will be ocean fishing with a very low quota, I heard on the radio that the Bay will be closed for Salmon, and they closed the Chehalis for Springers.
It is too early to know about the rest of the rivers down here.
