Beaver is hovering around 52, this weekend it should probably go 55+ and push the bass onto their beds.

It will definitely push them up in the shallows. I dunno about beds yet, but who knows....

Yeah I guess I should have been clearer. For me beds and shallows are about the same thing. Once they do start spawning though I'll leave them alone.

its hard for me to leave them alone that time of year. its when the huge bass are caught.

I know that I won't be leaving them alone. When they get on their beds is my favorite time to catch big bass. I like it because they are extrmely aggressive and is one of the best times to catch a trophy. I release all of my bass because I don't like the taste and I would prefer the large fish genes to stay strong. So I say fish while the fishin's good.

It's about time we got some spring weather... Spring has SUCKED so far! As for me, I'm grabbing a six pack of beer and heading to the lake to catch some rays (no pun intended).

I catch and release too, but even in the time it takes to hook, land, release and get a fish back to protection form a pack of sunfish could have eaten half their eggs. Boom. Gene line gone. I guess I'll do it on the smaller fish, but for me there's no sport or skill in catching a fish that will hit anything to protect its children. Would you lure a mama bear into a trap using very young cubs as bait and then shoot it?

Its a matter of opinion really though. I suppose the slight drop in bass population isn't THAT much of a factor for me compared to the fact that I don't see the fun in it. But if its fun for you, go right ahead. Not trying to stop anyone from fishing as they please.

Now I'm waiting for flack. :bom:

Yeah the bass should really get shallow this weekend so i will go for them and maybe they will be on beds but probably not but i love to catch spawning bass and the fish will be more active with the warm weather.

No need to wait for flack ipod, like you already said it is all in opinion and ours just happens to differ. No matter, just means more spawning bass for me. Now back to the thread, how about this nice weather coming at us, great ain't it.
