Westside - What's your favorite (3-5 stars) smallmouth lake?

Post by Firetiger » Sun Apr 06, 2008 6:21 pm

Fish the two big lakes and several on the eastside but interested in lakes closer to home. Excluding Lk Wash & Lk Sam, what's your favorite (3-5 stars) smallmouth lake on the westside?

Dude....#-o
Most people don't know anything about the bass fishing in there...Most people prefer to keep it a secret cause it gets no fishing pressure and produces some nice fish...
Don't chase reports...Be the report others chase....

But to keep it on topic i'd have to say lake Union...cause thats the only westside like i've caught smallies in though..never anything special, just small guys.

Ditto for Lake Stevens. It has lots of nice-sized smallies and most of the local fishermen prefer to chase silver fish (kokanee & trout). :-$

Stevens does have lots of dead water, however, so it can take a while to find the fish. During hot summer months it is also a mecca for jet skis and ski boats. If you're in a small boat, you'll get plenty of rock & roll... #-o

Whatcom and Tapps are the ones that I know of that produce nice smallie. I trust Hillbilly with his Lake Stevens knowledge.

I have heard that Pine Lake is a horrible fishery and it's not ever worth trying. :thumright

My favorite Smallmouth lake
-has ridiculously high launch fees
-has car-eating Bollards Of Death (BOD)
-has plenty of prop-eating stumps
-has more water skiers and rude boaters than any other lake I have been to
-produces consistent nice smallies (and some other toothy critters)

I think it’s time to get my boat out of storage!

That sounds more like an aquatic demolition derby ring than it does like a lake. Hmm.......I wonder why. :-"
