Helpful Info on Temperature

Wouldn't it also depend on if it is a deep or shallow lake? I have next Thursday and Friday off so I was thinking about what to try to catch in a lake and also what lake to go to.

I understand he constantly follows you, but you could do a little to stop him from doing so...

I hate to be harsh, but you kick out some QUALITY posts regarding weather, Lake WA cutts, freshwater lakes, etc., and the overall quality of your posts is getting overshadowed by all the small talk posts and I don't want that to be your reputation around here...

Cool, as a basshead this information would be ideal. If one knows the ideal spawning temperature for let's say the perch, one can match that fry for that coming month knowing that there is an ample fry supply that the bass will be feeding on. I know that these numbers will not be percise but you can get an idea of what forage will be the main food supply for a given period. Let's say for instance you know the temperature that smolt will be at the peek abundance on Lk Washington, what do you think a lot of those species are feeding on at that given time? I'm not saying that this is the only time fish feed on any particular species, but knowing there is an abundace of forage will help to match a pattern.

Another temp that has interested me but I have not come across is for the crawfish. At what temp. do they come out of being dormant. I have used huddlebugs this year with no success because I believe that fish know that it is not the ideal temp. for this forage to be around at they are not seeking them.

I have been wondering the same thing fishnislife. There are some real monster bows and browns at Mineral. I will be there the weekend after the opener and wanted to stock down some browns after night fall throwin some texas rigged craws. But if they are still sleeping the big fish know that.

At my Trout Puddle lake, the Cutts are spawning and the water temp (surface) ranges from 43 to 44. I don't know if ths actually helps this thread any, but it's solid info. I think that it has something to do with lunar issues along with the temp coming up.

Bullheads : 65-70 degrees (depending on species)
Channel Catfish:70-80 degrees
Bluegill: 67 degrees
LMB : 60-65 degrees
Crappies - black: 58-64 degrees - white:64-68
SMB : 55-65 degrees
Walleye : 38-44 degrees
Perch : 45-52 degrees
Cutts - 42-44 degrees ( late march to may for non anadromous) (december to february for searun)
Rainbow - 42-44 degrees
Kings/Silvers - ? degrees (september to december)

I know that the ideal spawning temp for the SMB is 66 degrees.

And to this will vary for individual fish in a particular species. Some fish move up sooner in colder water to spawn and some will spawn later in warmer temperature. This gives us an idea of what temperature the majority of a given species perfers to spawn at.
Cool, good stuff guys.

I still can't find stuff on the crawfish though. I think I have read 6 different research papers. I would think it coincides with the commercial and recreational opener.

Im kinda exited now. The perch should be spawning soon! I love those little guys.
