First off, they gotta get water in there. Its been low. Not to worry,I would hope by July that problem is solved. My experience with Alder,is fish nice and tight to the shorline. Tons of cover, stumps and trees. I'm sure the swimbaits work but I've never had to use them. I use a spinnerbait everytime. Just stay back, way back from the dam. The dam gets heavy output. And fish stay away,Alder Lake is always flowing. So the fish hang to the side. As for the good spots...I don't have one, just about anywhere works. Trust me...a ton of cover. Hopfully someone can give better insight but this has worked for me. Good Luck on your tourney.Jacob wrote:my club has a tournament on alder in july. we are not allowed to pre-fish it. im not asking for anyones secret spots or anything i was just wondering how the fishing usally is on this lake? maybe what i should expect to be fishing for more, largemouths or smallies? thanks

You will want to try as many submerged stumps as you can they hold the bigger fish. Largemouth on the North end of the lake and smallies at rocky point. Great lake to fish on and very pretty. The water right now is the lowest I have ever seen it so hopefully it gets plenty of rain.

RE:Alder Lake
What club do you belong to? Does that mean that any lake your club has a trny on you cant pre-fish it?
When you think you know it all, its time to quit. Knowledge should be gained on every trip.
RE:Alder Lake
Ya what skeeter said. Can you not pre-fish it at all, or only a week prior ?

im in the lewis county bass club. we decided to try some weird things this year, since no one in our club has ever fished alder we decided to do a tournament where we are not allowed to prefish it at all, we also have a 1 rod 4pound test tournament on riffe later in the year
RE:Alder Lake
That is some weird rules. Could liven things up though. Could also be potentially dangerous on Alder. I never been there, and would be to afraid to get on plane with all the stumps you can see in the water.

1 rod in a tournament](*,)
It's been a long time since I only brought one rod. I would at least like to have 2 one light and one heavy!

I predict snapped lines and gnashing of teeth at Riffe
A nice bass is too valuable a resource to enjoy catching only once.
