Fishing Pine Lake - Sammamish

Post by Jrogers » Tue Mar 25, 2008 8:03 pm

I just ran into an old friend that bought a place on Pine Lake on Sammamish. He is a big trout / Fly Fishing fanatic that I would like to expose to some bassin. He has the dock and 2 single man kayaks. Is that lake open year round for bass fishing. If so I have heard their are some nice Large Mouth to be taken. Is it too early to work the docks with crankbaits? Or should we be using plastics in the deeper waters. Spawn with a lake that size shouldn't we be looking soon?

It's a seasonal lake. Not open till later in April.

yes, there are great bass fishing opportunities in that lake. Largemouth and smallmouth. Much too early to use cranks around docks anywhere.

When it opens in late April though, that could work, the fish should be up shallow by then...

Spawn is gonna be soon. I just glanced at my temp gauge that is linked up outside my house is showing 41.2 degrees. Can't be any warmer up there. Water temps needa be atleast 52-53 to be thinking spawn...

Make sure you stay legal and fish it not until the last Sat. in April. You should do well for bass and panfish with worms and dropshots.

Bassdad

If you have kids, its a great lake to take them too. There are other activites to do as well. They have a park, a swimming area, a baseball diamond and basketball courts.

:)

I would frequent that lake often with my family and friends.

Don't think spawn until high 50 degree water temps. When that lake opens, it will be super close to spawning time. You can catch them spawning all through May I'd imagine.

When it opens, there will also be PLENTY of folks going for trout. They will look at you wondering what the heck you are doing, until you pull out that pig female from the shallows!

I love fishing for bass when thats going on. Think about it. A guy gets his 5 fish limit of trout, for what 6 lbs total :) You have a shot at alot more fish than that, and alot better fighting, and fun fish. Just remember to catch and release ! I heard that lake has some good fish, think I'll have to float tube it this year.
