WL.com Trophy Board

I saw the BASS lunker post and I thought that was a great idea. Post your big fish here. You can figure out size minimums as we go along. I'll ask Mike to sticky it or I'll figure out how to do it myself.

you always hear of alot of fish caught under 5 lbs.

:king:

therefore, i would say generally speaking start @ 5+ lbs for both largemouth and smallmouth.

I agree with Sam. Until we get tons of these reports, we can keep the minimums low at 5 and 4.

yea exactly

if everyone wants to be technical about it, i think a 5+ sm and a 6+ lm are about right.

to make things easier 5+ lbs sounds about right. there will be quiet enough pictures for everyone to look at.

For bass guys a 4lb SM or a 5lb LM is not a trophy. If your going to call this a "pretty nice fish board" then those limits will work fine. Most bass guys in this area would start the extreme minimum at 5lb SM and 6lb LM.
When you think you know it all, its time to quit. Knowledge should be gained on every trip.

hopefully people who submit photos have a digital scale. one of which they had certified by their club or another person.

:king:

i hate photos where they say, it [insert adjective here] like a x size fish. im pretty accurate when i make a fish weight judgement, though some people arent. some people are just so way off its silly.

](*,) I have everything but a digital scale. I have a sewing tape measure that can measure girth and length, a spring scale, and a bathroom scale. Should we add a minimum girth/length for cheapos like me that we know will add up to at least 5/6 pounds?

So is this the actual board or is this just discussing the Trophy Board. Cause I don't see any pics. It would be nice to have a thread were it is just postings of pics and not pages of text to go through once this thing gets going and people start throwing up there submissions.
Just an idea. And there should be a Trophy Board for all species on here. Trout, Salmon, Musky, Panfish........
Would be cool to actually have something just dedicated to this.

If people are ok with it, we can wipe the thread clean (save the original post) once we agree on the specifics.

I'm fine with making a sticky for each Forum area (bass, trout, panfsh, saltwater, flying fishing) and guys can post their bigguns. I do have one concern which is this - I'd hate to see fishing reports get posted in the Forums and then not posted in on the report forms. Reason being, those forms are essential to the advanced features Aaron and I are working on. Also, the reports that get posted in the Forum become lost as time goes by, but when they get on to a report form they become part of the main website archives.

Anyhow, you bass guys now have your Trophy Sticky so go at it!

IPodrodder,

If you work up specific instructions I will paste them into the first post on the Trophy Bass Thread and then remove the sticky from this thread. Thanks.

get a digital scale

:king:

i find in most cases, people challenge the bass weight equation. to them it just doesnt add up. people would rather know the exact digital weight, rather than have a rough estimate though an equation.
