Year Round Lakes
Year Round Lakes
We need to add another field to the lake databse for lakes that are open year round. I'm setting out to Bead Lake tomorrow morning with no clear idea of whether or not I can get in. The data for Bead Lake is OLD... REALLY OLD. The WDWF site mentions nothing about the hours or the gate or the restricted days of the week for fishing and the guys at the Sportsmans Warehouse seemed suprised by it. Nobody has mentioned anything to them.
Soo... when I get up there and I DO find it closed I need somewhere else to go but I am having a hard time finding lakes in that area that are open year round.
If anyone has any ideas that they can post between now and 8 am tomorrow morning... fire away.

I really should be getting to bed... but I think I figured out where I can go. Sullivan Lake is another big deep lake that I can troll (need to try out my new gear!) and it is open all year.

RE:Year Round Lakes
Good luck on Sullivan. I was skunked.
Before you do the coding for those lakes, consider: #1 you'll have to go through the regs and look each lake up. No small task. #2 You'll have to check every year because the regs change and we will have old information which people will follow blindly (they do that sometimes).
I think the best thing to do is to drum it into people's heads that they need to be up to date on fishing regs before they set out.

100% Skunked.
The reason I think this is a good idea is that it takes HOURS to find the lakes that are open year round... I just thought that creating a page called the "Year-Round Lake Index" was a good idea... one that needed to come with a disclaimer in RED BOLD letters stating that they need to verify our data with the reg book before heading out....

I don't know off the top of my head which there are more of, year round or seasonal, but you may want to do the short stack.
RE:Year Round Lakes
The way I see it, MOST lakes are open year round. Unless I miss my mark, if it isn't listed in the regs it is either a private lake or open year-round.... yes? no?

RE:Year Round Lakes
How about a link to the WDFW regs PDF file and guys can look this up themselves? I just think it will be a lot of work to weed out those lakes. All lakes are open unless noted in the regs. With around 4,000 lakes in Washington, the Open Lakes list will number in the thousands.

RE:Year Round Lakes
That sounds good to me. That leaves you out of the "offical information" status.

I have to have this page... so I'm going to make it and make it so I'm the only one that can access it.
