Those silver colored aluminum boats, even when they are big, can blend in with shiny areas on the water. And any boat can blend in with something on the shoreline. Maybe all boats should be orange in color, and hope they don't blend in with the rising or setting sun , which can hide any boat in the bright sunshine. All we can do is watch, look, and pay attention.

...and try not to be toooooo stupid. In the collision a few weeks back, the operator of a 31 ft bayliner was ON PLANE in crowded waters and decided to change a fuse right before he collided with a green 24 ft aluminum boat. Fortunately, the guys in the other boat saw him coming and barely had time to jump in the water. There were prop slices all over the top of the aluminum boat.

Engage brain before shifting into gear and keep brain engaged entire time boat is moving. For some, engaging brain is a complex task. [rolleyes]
