What/where can I fish right now?
I've been stationed out of state for 6 years but I've recently moved back and want to go fishing in the next few weeks. I live in Spanaway in pierce county and would like to fish in the county but i wouldn't be opposed to going somewhere else if i needed too. So where can I fish and what can i fish for? Thank you in advance!

Well, given where you are located, you could always consider taking trout gear (spinning or fly) out to the salt and looking for sea run Cutthroat. The Skookumchuck should be getting going for Steelhead right about now also.

You could also go trout fishing in a number of nearby lakes, BUT, a license is required, separate ones are needed for fresh and saltwater, and they expire the end of March. If you don't have one, you might wish to hold off until April 1 or pick fresh or salt to limit your costs.

Just go to Google maps, look at the blue (water)
And then read in the regs, for those bodies of water. (To include emergency regs)
You will see what is currently open, locations, and species.

The skookumchuck is as dead as my great grandma and there is absolutely not enough steelhead to go out there. Been out on the river floating beads, jigs and throwing spoons/spinners.. Havjt had any action and have been talking with the locals. Everyone and their brother fishes the chuck that lives around there and nothing is being caught. Heard the run came early and many people missed it.. If you're looking for some winter steel before they are all gone, try the Olympic Panisula although it's such a far drive... anyways guys.. best of luck!!
