Fishing for Lingcod in the Puget sound

Post by GoingtoFish » Fri Jun 03, 2016 5:36 pm

Going out to try for Lingcod for the first time with a buddy of mine this weekend. I have fished lings once out of Westport on a charter but never on my own.
I have an idea of what rigs we should use but wanted to ask what has been working best, jigs, live bait, special rigs and techniques your all using. Feel free to PM me with info if you don't want to share. It's the only chance I'm going to have to go out for lings this year.
Tight lines!

Live bait is almost always best - flounder, greenling, irish lords, etc. On the bottom in rocky areas mostly but stay under 120 feet depth to be legal and check the regs carefully for the area you will be in for size, limits etc.

Well no Lings for me yesterday. Lots of sun and flounder though. Still had a great time. :)

Bummer!

Next time, if its not too rough for your boat, head across to Possession Bar. Thats supposed to be the hot area in that region.
