Other Colville reservation lakes..?
I am heading to Omak lake in a couple weeks for an early Omak lake trip. Also will be at Omak lake in early April.
I have fished Omak many times, but I always have wondered about some of the other lakes which are on the Colville res.
There is Buffalo lake, Duley, Little Goose, and a few others.
Does anyone have any experiwnce with these other lakes? I am fly fishing the Lahontan cutts, but when the waters warm up, I'd love to bass fish over there as well.

There are twin lakes directly east of Omak. It has been a while since I fished there but should be loaded with rainbows, brook trout, and plenty of largemouth. Tons of small bass, we had to work to get anything over a pound but they are thick. Always fished south twin, never been in the north one.

Can you say if these two lake are better fished via a boat, or would a float tube be sufficient? I am not oppossed to tubing fairly good size lakes. Boat launch available?

If your willing to drive 45 min from Omak (North), I've never had a bad day at Spectacle Lake. Good trout, panfish, some bass, etc. There's some nice sized German Brown Trout in there as well.

"Spectacle lake resort". The nicest folks around. I go there regularly, but use it as a base camp for places in the area.cjrodarme wrote:If your willing to drive 45 min from Omak (North), I've never had a bad day at Spectacle Lake. boat would be best but float tube would be fine. There are a couple launches on each of the lakes. I could see catching bass on poppers early and buggers after sunup. Tube may let you stealth in on some of the larger bass.

I've been to Buffalo when over at Rufus, never fished there because when I was there the water was quite warm. Early spring should be good. The folks at the lake said there were many very big fish in the lake, as in the moved a bunch from the pens up there. Should be good before it gets too warm an they turn to mush in the summer. If I remember right, they stock it with Browns too. I was thinking it could be a good one to hit with a fly. =)The Quadfather wrote:I am heading to Omak lake in a couple weeks for an early Omak lake trip. Also will be at Omak lake in early April.

PS; tried a couple times but when I'm that far, it's kind of hard not to hit Rufus.

Good to know, thanks Bodo. I will have more opportunity to scout around on next weekend's trip.Bodofish wrote:I've been to Buffalo when over at Rufus, never fished there because when I was there the water was quite warm. Re: Other Colville reservation lakes..?
Have fun over there! When I get that far, it's really hard for me to not run the extra 40 minutes and pop the boat in Rufus. Best so far is 13+ pounds but I was fishing next to pen boys (fish feeders) and they pulled one out that had to weigh at least 30 pounds, the thing looked like a big Chinook! Worm on a hook, only the swivel for weight.
Have fun at Omak!!!!

Hey Quad, I realize this isn't on topic, but I hope you don't mind if I ask a question. In your experience when do you find that Omak lake starts to pick up (for someone who is stuck to the shoreline only)? I have only fished the lake once, mid-April last year, but had such a good time that I may very well make it annual occurrence. At this point I am planning another trip in mid-April, but would love some more insight. Sorry that I don't have anything to offer on the other Colville lakes...

From the people that I know, some of them on here, March-April is when things usually turn on from shore. Also, go back through the report history and scan by "Month"AJFishdude wrote:Hey Quad, I realize this isn't on topic, but I hope you don't mind if I ask a question. You will see some great reports from a couple guys in that time frame.
I have fished it in usually summer months, but did very well on New Years day some years ago. All via a boat though.
