Not breaking any records, but squeaked out another this morning. 3# hen who'd encountered seals in the past. She put up a hell of a fight though!

The pieces are starting to fall into place I think. Hit numbers 2 and 3 on Thursday and today. These fish have a bright future with some garlic brine and a smoker.

This makes me miss the rivers even more. I managed going 8/12 this winter (Dec12-Jan 2nd), may have another chance next weekend. I managed to at least hook a steelhead on almost all of my trips, and when I didn't other cool fish filled the voids.
You never know what you'll discover..... If you take a couple of steps into the water.

got a 12lb hen and 5lb buck Friday evening and a 9lb hen Saturday morning. Not bad for a total of 5 hours of fishing. Lost a absolute toad too. Home made jigs and lured beads.

Nice! Have you noticed the size increasing as the season has continued? I have hooked some bigger ones than I have landed this year so far, but my biggest hookup probably hasn't been over 10# for the season yet.
Re: Steelhead Pics & Reports 2015/2016
Personally I think the fish were larger earlier in the season. I didn't catch any all that big this year but I saw some nice fish and my buddies got into some well over 10lbs before the middle of December. Seems like the fish have been bigger this whole season though. Saw very few of the typical Cookie Cutter 3-5lb fish this season.
Nice fish by the way Hunter! Jealous haha my season is probably done till Summers.

Last year I struggled to catch a fish over ten pounds. Finally got one towards the end of the season, but most were between 5 to 7 lbs. This year I've caught fewer fish than previous seasons, but have hooked way more large fish with three landed that were ten and up and a couple lost that were as big. However, the more recent catches have been on the smaller side.AJFishdude wrote:Nice! Have you noticed the size increasing as the season has continued? yeah lots of fish and lot of big fish this year, I think I already have 8 over 10#s only 1 over 15 tho. last year they were all cookie cutters and tho still quite a few but not as many as this year. Hopefully nates are big too this year
Re: Steelhead Pics & Reports 2015/2016
Have only caught 1 on the Nooksack this year and released it thinking it wasn't in season on the north fork, any good recommendations less then 2 hours or so from Bellingham wa?

Fishing has been good. Landed this big hen yesterday, quite the fight, jumped around 8 times.
