Well in that case I'm with you on that. I think we have an awesome state being that it is so far north. Its great that we can bass fish year round and not ice over (well not western Washington anyways). I love the 12 months of sun but I wouldn't like not being able to fish for smallmouth in some of those southern states that dont have them at all.

Dale Hollow Lake in Tennessee in one the best smallmouth lakes in this country ... World records smallys have come from this place .. Iv had oppertunity to fish it twice ..oops was anyone talking to me ? didnt think so , peace ...BBD

Like the link danielt put up for state record bass, here is one that puts the weights in order so you can see where Washington ranks for big bass. About the middle of the pack.

Find your happy place man. You'll be ok. Unless that happy place happens to be in that avatar pic with that fat bass your holding. :-"
Or you could just move to Wyoming and try to beat that record.

You know this year is going to be killer. The year of the fat bass for both of us. And maybe that other guy too, but he'll probably have to borrow one of our baits. :clown:

Have you guys seen this brand new swimbait from Gambler? It's called the Gambler Brutus.
I don't know whether to laugh or actually consider it a decent bait. What do think guys? The next big bait for 08'?

Haven't seen it. I'll have to check it out. I do know that if one is having trouble finding basstrix paddletail baits you can check out Rainbow Worms Bowfish or the Money Minnow Swimbait. Either will do the trick.

Good call danielt. :thumleft: Those should be hot! Expecially on the tour.
I just found an article on all the new stuff Berkley is putting out this year. Good stuff too and a great read to boot.

Expect to see a lot of BassTrix clones, copies, and cast-offs this year. My BassTrix lures went on eBay and fetched $65 for the two packs I had. It should be interesting to see what the next couple of years bring us.

I am pretty much a swimbait virgin, but going to be putting in alot of practice in the next few months. Going to be fishing Clear Lake CA the 2nd week of April. Should be swimbait prime time down there at that time of year.
When you think you know it all, its time to quit. Knowledge should be gained on every trip.

The only thing i need to know is when the hell those things hit retail. I also really like the idea of the jig kits, makes pretty good sense. Also that gambler swimbait looks freakish. I would have to see that thing be successful before i even thought about buying it. Gambler hasn't done much to get my attention in the past, other than their frogs being pretty good and cheap.

Late Febuary is what I read.

Ya, Gambler has always put out some cheap stuff. Mostly useless, which makes me think that this swimbait will be the same.

I saw the new Berkley jig kits at Cabela's the other day. $6.00 for one jig and 4 trailers. No thank you. The jigs don't look like anything special.

Anything Berkley is OVERPRICED. They had those swimming jigs thingies and they were about the same price. One jig head and 4 plastic bodies...I'm not worried about losing a plastic body, more so the jig. $6 per jig? No thanks...

Lucky! (in Napoleon Dynamite voice) Nice pick up man. How do they look? And have you had a chance to run them yet? Do they swim true?
I've been contemplating picking a couple up.

Dude, they look amazing. I was expecting a little bigger profile, but they are perfect. I have not got them wet yet. When I do, I'll be sure to let you know. I ordered on 1-7-08, so expect 3 weeks for delivery.

Another good article for late summer and early fall bass. It's never too early to do some homework and prepare.
