Swimstep/Swim Platform

Post by rseas » Mon Jul 06, 2015 8:09 am

We are now a two boat household. Our new family member is in need of a swim platform. I am looking for a full width composite swim platform sturdy enough to support a small (4 stroke 9.9 Yammy) kicker motor. This will not be a replacement but a new install. Looking for manufacture reccomendations. I can do the install just not familiar with the differnt companies that manufacture swim platforms.

I looked into a swim platform for a Bluewater Sportsman I used to have. I think it was from Swim Platforms, Inc. They wanted $1500.00 and that seemed to be the going rate--too much for me. Good luck though!

I know a guy that does great work. I just don't have a thought on his prices. How about I send a PM?

You may want to look to some local fab shops if you can't find what you want at west marine. I built one for my boat from stainless tubing and topped it with trex when I started looking at the prices of aftermarket.

Rseas, did you ever find some one to make swim platform? I'm looking for one for my alumaweld Stryker. I know three rivers can make one but I'm looking for a less expensive option. Thanks Mike

Okay here is my new swim platform with pull out ladder. Had it made by Whodat towers in Olympia. They built my tower last year too. They do fantastic work.

Looks really nice. Would you care to share their price and approximate dimensions?

 About $550 with tax custom made and installed. Bolted all the way through the transom and sealed with 5200. Another $100 for the stainless steel ladder I purchase online. It's about 18x18 inches. I had bids with 2 other boat/aluminum fab shops that came in at $1400. When I first received the bids I said forget it but then called whodat a few months later. Glad I did!

check out my post on March 25 last year, in boat and boating topics. The pictures are of the swim step I had made for for my stryker last year. It has worked out great, I had it made a little different for my wife and I, sorry I don't know how to repost the pictures, was made by a guy in Marysville, not sure if he still does them............
