I really like this reel..but
So I want to know if 140yds or 12lbs Maxima UG is enough as main line for steelhead and small salmon.
Maybe I can get by using 10lbs Maxima UG? that will give me maybe yards...160yds? (just guessing, not really sure)
I not a big fan of braided lines. at least not on bait casting reel.

That would be plenty of line for small salmon and steelhead. Id throw some 12lb maxima ultra green on there. Give you a little more line capacity.

Stand at the goal post of your local high school football field and look at the other goal post. Goal post to goal post a football field is 120 yards If you are hooked into a salmon or steelhead and it has gotten that far away from you do you think that 20-40 extra yards is going to help? ![[wink]](./images/smilies/msp_wink.gif "Wink")

Too true! I lost about 25 yards of line off my float rod this last winter and thought I'd have to spool new line...well, no there was still plenty of line to get me through the season. On the river you typically don't use more than 50 yards at a time anyway.
