With just a hand full of fishing trips under my belt I still feel like a bass fishing virgin. Here's my list.

1) First cast from my own gear! No longer have to borrow Dilberts leftovers.
2) First fish on top water baits. I want this really bad!
3) First fish on my boat
4) First Largemouth
5) First fish caught by frog
6) First bass club
7) First tournament
8) First place and a check!

Chris

P.S.- tips and advice always welcome.

I always fish pine on opening day and plan too do it again this year .. man i know that point your tlking about and it always give me atleast three fish every out ..lol..there is a nice shelf i found , it starts at 5 ' drops to 10' unto a shelf about 6 feet long and that drops into 20+ ..that shelf holds alot of smallys all the time .. we will hook up and hit it one day , i know im there on opening day this year.. last year opening day there gave me a 4lb smally .. :bounce:
well im sure i will see you on opening day then lol. theres a dock on the other side of that point under the willow tree that a 5+ lm spawns under every year.

I guess we need to start PM'ing some of the old regulars to get them reactivated before fishin' season arrives. BBD, it's good to see you back again. We all missed your input. BTW got your PM, thanks.

I'm here. I've just been watching this thread develop to see what everyone will be trying and working on this coming season. Personally, I have been thinking about this all off season and I'm glad BBD brought it up for everyone to start thinking about. Great topic man!
For me, my first thing will be to get out more and fish with BBD :thumright and others around WL.com. Last season I met so many new friends from this site that I am excited to get out and fish with some more of you fishn fools. Besides that my slogan for this year is: "Go Big or Go Home". I plan on throwing a lot of big baits this year because I was talked out of it last year. I decided too late into the season to go against what I was reading and was told and now I completely regret not pulling out big baits earlier in the season. Swimbaits all day (Huddlestons, SBT's, SPRO's) big jigs (1/2oz.+ with beefy trailers) and monster plastics (6" to 12"). Call me crazy, but I have a plan to tag big bass and I'm not going to deviate from that. I also am going to work on the dropshot with my Huddlebugs I picked up late last year. I have a gut feeling that this bait is going to be my secret weapon on the water. As far as techniques, I didn't crank enough last year and I picked up a killer fat crank by Strike King: Series 5 in Sexy Shad, and I am excited to try it. It will be a very hot bait. Other than that I plan to continue studying lakes inside and out and hopefully try out a bunch of new ones.
08' is the year for the BIG bass. Let's go get'em boys.

1. Work on locating fish in new lakes
2. Work on my casting skills (getting my first low profile baitcaster soon)
3. New personal best SM and LM
4. Start throwing a bigger variety of baits, I bring them with me I might as well use them
5. Join a club
6. Participate in my first club tourney and don't finish last
6. Put a bell on that dang bait monkey so I can hear him sneaking up on me

Well I have been putting it off too long. I have to fix the crack in my Hi-laker boat and get it repainted. Wish me luck its a good size crack and my fiberglass skills are not professional. I did a little practicing last season and with any luck things should go smooth.

The Sammamish open is March 29th and the spawn bite will not be on. Im assuming the same weather water as last year and that was 45-47 surface temp. Some fish will move up but not on beds.

Sounds like a good tournament for tossing jig-n-pig or slow-rolling spinnerbaits, if the weather cooperates. My usual early spring picks. Haven't been to Sammamish in over 20 years though.
