Now it's on your head if "I" screw it up! LOL
Ordered the "Work Sharp WSKTS-KT Knife and Tool Sharpener Field Kit", signed up for a CC, rcvd a $30 credit, adjusted the shipping date to rcv free shipping and went with an Amazon sub seller to avoid tax..... $55.37 for the works! $100 seemed to be the usual internet price for the package. I should have more to say in about a week when I turn my first knife into dust with it. LOL

It's supposed to come with 9 belts, 3 of each grit, so I shelved the spares idea. Do you seem to burn through those? [-o<

The belts last for a while, you may go through one breaking in and sharpening all of your knives.

that was a great deal. The Ken Onion version is the one we reviewed at Fish Camp.

Anyone who has touched one of my knives, knows the meaning of sharp.

But, this is what I used for years for keeping all the knives in the fish house more than razor sharp. This one is not for the faint of heart. If you want to sharpen a knife for all day use this is the only one.

Both look good. On the first one, I'm looking to get away from deviation from knife to knife or the work involved, call me lazy if you will, I'm looking for motorized. I would expect nothing less than a perfectly honed blade from you....You are a perfectionist! [thumbsup]
On the second one, looks badass but at a grand, LOL, it's out of my range... but great to look at!
Yeah, the price for a true hone is a lot but for a commercial operation it's the only way to go. The triangle sharpmaker is probably the most versatile sharpening system I've come across. Stand up the edge with the triple stone and hone it with the Sharpmaker. It does scissors, serrated edges and is really good for fish hooks. Scary sharp and no belts involved. My problem with a belt sharpener is, the edge is so small on a knife, there's a really good chance you could adjust the temper and the blade ends up pre maturely dulling.

i literally took a butter knife and used the work sharp to put an edge on it just to see if it was possible. sure as #### the butter knife is now a steak knife. sharp enough to slice right through a steak. doesn't hold an edge very long, but wouldn't expect it to cause its just a cheap butter knife. the point of the experiment was to see if the work sharp would sharpen a truly completely dull knife. the answer is, YES!!!!

Now, THAT, Right there is hilarious! I'm lookin forward to rcving my new toy soon! LOL Thanks for trying that out!

Yep Bodo, I sorta went from the big stone of my youth to various cheapo sharpeners the last decade... I missed the quality hand systems you use... with the stand up stones and rods..... now, just looking for fast, simple, reliable, and reasonably priced. I'll be looking for it's results with just a quick swipe through, lessening the likelihood of excessive heat. I'll leave the blue metal to the bench grinder and the lawn mower blade.. :)

Hahaha, I did the same exact thing when I got mine. I have a super sharp butter knife just hanging out. My wife didn't think it was so funny, I found out it was a nice butter knife. It's edge has held up just fine [omg]

Oh wow! I didn't get back in here... I sharpened about a dozen knives in one sitting very quickly. Robyn loves the sharp knives in the kitchen. About time to sharpen them again, 3 1/2 months later. The worksharp sharpener is fast and simple. Love using it.

I didn't take much steel off, didn't sharpen them deeply, just enough for them to slice paper super cleanly. So, on mine, the edge doesn't have that fresh from the store look but they are sharp! On one knife I angled the blade too much on the tip, even light pressure is all that is required.

Hmmm. I think I may have to pick one up. All of our knives are very full. Skinning, fillet and kitchen. Cabelas is running them at 79$. Seems reasonable and the reviews are great on this one. My dad has a chef mate (the higher end one) and I'm not too impressed with it. It dulled more knives than sharpened. Made me hesitant to use it again.

I haven't checked prices recently, sounds like the one. Watch the DVD, explains it. Sharpen a knife, watch the DVD... pretty easy but there is a nuance to it that you'll quickly pick up. Run the blade thru once on each side very lightly, smoothly, evenly, quickly, slice paper to gauge effectiveness. Just looking at the blade won't tell ya how sharp it is. It does have a roundish appearance that is explained in literature somewhere..... but the shizzle is sharp!

Almost forgot, when I first pulled it out of the box, it didn't look impressive... I was almost a little disappointed. After sharpening a few knives, I'm super satisfied. Sharp knives have never been this easy to obtain.

Just picked up a work sharp today! Ran through the kitchen knives and got a decent edge on them. Didnt use the honing purple band though. Just the red 220 for a couple swipes. I really dont mind a small burr on the edge. Kind of makes it sticky sharp lol.

I didn't notice a burr. Red 220s here also. It's fast, the knives are sharp, I may experiment some later for a deeper grind sharpening but don't want to heat the blade up. To avoid the burr finish with the belt going upwards, towards the blade.
