2013 elk

Post by schu7498 » Wed Nov 06, 2013 10:46 pm

Well I missed the first good rain. But it paid off in the end with red meat in the freezer. I was up by Mt. Rainier trying to track down an elk herd.Took 3 days to locate them, put miles and miles on my boots everyday. Ended up finding the herd just a half mile in from where we enter. Snuck into where they bed down, wind just right, followed them out of their beds to where they were starting to graze and got this fat boy last evening. I have always been the person that calls in the elk for others. This year was my first year hunting them myself.

Nice! Great looking elk! Great picture as well, that will be one you can reminisce back to for the rest of your life! Sounds like a great hunting adventure, and well worth the work. Congratulations! [biggrin] [biggrin] [biggrin]

Right on! Great looking bull. Congrats. Just got back from my annual Mt. Adams hunt. Slightly new area this year that was an unfortunate bust, but already looking forward to next year. [thumbsup]
Nice job! =D>

Nice job!! I didn't get to go elk hunting this year, just because of me being on varsity football I cant skip out. I figured I wont always have football, but ill always be able to go hunting and fishing so I skipped out on my elk season...

Thanks guys! I have some yummy days ahead. And too many hobbies is right! Opening day it was pouring and all i was thinking about while walking through the woods was, how good the humptulips must be looking.

Missed looking at this one. Great pic. What do you with it. Jerky? Steaks? Summer sausage? I love deer and elk hunting!

I had the max amount of steaks and roasts made. The left overs went to ground and summer sausage, ribs, and soup bones. Tried to make use of everything! He was still young so he is ridiculously tender and delicious!

Very nice! My favorite meal is elk burger on a charcoal grill. Man, I would say that was better than a mess of crappie! [wink]
