Opening weekend pics

Post by RiverChromeGS » Sun Jun 02, 2013 9:49 pm

Well after the first few hours of saturday, it was obvious that the river was too low and the springers simply had not come up in any numbers yet. However we fished a long hard weekend and ended up landing a bunch of steelhead, downriver winter runs and fresh summers mixed, all native fish, and big, actually the only fish under 10 lbs i saw all weekend was the king lol! We did get a king sunday and lost one saturday, but they just arent in the skagit yet, nobody had kings in any numbers. Anyway, if ya wanna catch some wild steelhead on the mighty skagit, ive found um!

Nice, Danny!!! Beautiful steel. They look so fresh, just out of the salt! I guess catching natives is a good thing. Means they are not extinct in the Skagit. I really should have put more time in on Whibey beaches for those guys.
Saw Nick caught a real chunky king on his facebook page.

Seems like you're occupying the Skagit right now for those nates. Wouldn't it be cool to be able to fish for them when the winters are chrome? 10 nates in a day rivals the OP in productivity. Good on you!

with all these winter run nates it seems like the run is improving, maybe one day we can fish for them again.

I sense we will be in the near future, last winter there was a estimated 4000-5000 returning and I think the escapement goal isn't much more, runs appear to be getting better as well through the past few years so just maybe [-o< did some scouting this weekend and checked out the fortson hole on the stilly and not much going on there, about 5 fly guys with nothing.

Sounds like a rereg of the person who attacked Nate on the other thread. I think he just doesn't like guides.....and believes he walks on water himself....

No site is safe from trolls looking to rile somebody up. I find them amusing myself but understand why this site doesn't.

Anyhow beautiful springer man! Hope to go chase them around with ya sometime soon.
