Kennewick/Pasco

Heading out to one of the few places I've never been, Kennewick/Pasco. Jennifer and I are going there on Friday for 4 days to see her dad and hopefully to get in some fishing. We will probably go Yakima way from western Washington but may take the scenic drive on our way back through the Dallas and gorge area, but that is flexible. We have new steelhead poles and still no steelhead notches on them so we wouldn't mind doing that. We've even considered driving up the Snake and exploring up there if weather permits. Suppose to be cold but clear for the duration. Like I said, we've never been in that area and would like some ideas of possibilities, even for good trout fishing if nothing else. Any and all suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

Dan

The Snake is really the only place hitting right now on the Eastside for steelies. If you are looking for trout the I-82 ponds should have some good winter holdovers. if you go to the http://www.nwwildcountry.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; site and download the podcast from Saturday they have some good info on the Snake steelie situation. I also know they were heavily planting trout on the Eastside this winter, but unfornately they have removed the 2012 planting reports from the WDFW website and have not yet archived them. You may want to give them a call and find out where around the Tri-Cities they have been planting.

Like the previous poster said, there isn't much going on right now. I don't even think the lakes here open up until March too. I think your best bet for trout would be the I-82 ponds or Myron Lake in Yakima if it's open. I'm not sure if the Easton ponds are open but I know they get a plant before winter starts and they ice over. I'd recommend trying steelhead fishing up at Lyon's Ferry by the hatchery then you can also check out the Palouse Falls, which is a pretty nice site to see.
