when catching a steelhead can you use the same setup as catching salmon. i mean just the corky and yarn or is there a completey different setup? or is there one that works better. and what are some good rivers to go to. puyallup river is finished i havent seen anyone out there in a while.

Tie a 2ft eggloop leader number 1 hook with orange, red, or pink yarn atatch an egg cluster about quarter sized and drift fish it, thats probaby the most productive setup for steelhead. I was at the puyallup last weekend and there where still people fishing it but afterthanksgiveing is when steelhead fishing starts to get good for the hatchery run, Native run is wiped out. Hatchery steelhead tend to be a little bit more finicky twords spoons but they work. If you want to you can also try a jig tiped with a sand shrimp under a slip float, that s a good bet or getting steelhead. As for corky and yarn it works, but by useing bait you increase your chance of getting the fish to bite.

Good Luck and Tight Lines!
