Marc, i started near the mouth got the one pictured then i walked in on the other side of the river right when you were leaving and thats where i broke the jig on a beauty. Then we walked into the hatchery after everyone left and lost another 10+ pounder

Saw the same thing at Blue Creek today. Guy had two of them do that, exact same spot, exact same jig.

Just a few take downs, full report in the other thread you already replied in. I've got a lot to learn, still.

That's too bad that it's slow. I figured as much with the low smolt plants and all...I haven't been out there yet this year though. Sounds like it would be a waste of time right now anyway.

I feel like you are trying to hide something but what do I know I live in bremerton and went there and hooked darn near 100 steelhead in 5 days.
One dude even pulled one at that was 17-18lbs, thing was a slab and I hooked one with my pink worm jig that was just dogging then all of a sudden went crazy, jump and when I jumped I knew i was screwed cause the thing was a pig atleast 18lbs then bent my jig hook into a 90 degree angle. They are the brood stock fish and the average hatchery fish over there is like 10lbs if not 12, i hooked a lot too but I was not prepared for the high water and only had 14lb test on me, it sucked trying to turn fish in that water but I managed a couple times.
How was the water looking, high? I do not hear much about rags any more so that is pretty cool.

Bonker- The avarage hatchery fish on the bogey is 4-6lbs. Later in the year, some larger fish show up. Biggest hatchery fish i've seen on the bogey was 15lbs.

Most of the year, all i see landed is 4-6lb fish. From thanksgiving to the second week of december i never saw a single fish over 7lbs landed. One time out there i had landed a 7 lb fish and it had been the biggest fish landed all day. My grandpa and i have yet to land a steelhead from there over 8lbs actually.

Another slow day but was able to get one anyways. Buddy also hooked one but had tightened his drag up(fixing a line problem) and had forgot to loosen it before fishing. Long story short, nice steelhead jumped a couple times and was unable to rip line so the leader snapped right in the middle. He was very bummed out! Mine didn't jump but took a few nice runs stripping plenty of line, a lot of fight in him. also caught a large dolly but released it. Only saw one other steelhead caught today.

Ya that one is the 10'6" float rod and I also always have my 9'6" side drifting rod with me, so I can alternate from one jig to another or to eggs, without tying knots when the fish are biting. Both are okuma sst's. Love the rods and you can't beat them for the money.

I have the 10'6" sst float rod and a 8'6" celilo. I use both when fishing normally. The sst is set up for float fishing and the celilo for drifting eggs and such. I agree on the price, really great rod for the money.

yeah I hate how they use chambers fish for winters and skamanias for summer runs. I have hundreds of rags I have made along with areo fly with the foam that we got at verles like a dicount bin full for 10 bucks but yet to use any.
We also have a ton of the backing foam all different sizes, if you don't what color was your rag, I have seen some interesting color combos especially a nightmare some guy was using when I was there. i know they put broodstock into the river, it is on the wdfw site but I did not know they also use hoko fish, I thought they use elwah/morse fish that are basically chamber fish.

They don't normally use hoko fish. Just had to use hoko fish last year.

Did not see any other fish caught but heard of a couple caught up at the hatchery hole. Not many caught yet this year but they are bigger then last year for sure! Just not many to go around yet. As of wed. still ony 6 steelhead in the hatchery. #-o
