South Fork Stillaguamish Steelhead?

Has anyone fished for steelhead up on the stilly above Granite Falls in the last few years? I used to fish Red Bridge, Blue Bride, Verlot, and every other hole along Mountain Loop Hwy, but I haven't been up there for a long time.

probably be better off hitting the northfork. fished it a few times last year and the fish are there but in challenging numbers. jigs under floats worked well

Thanks I'll try the North Fork too. Never have had any luck with jigs, I've mostly hit them drifting sandshrimp or eggs, but from what I've heard they're the way to go. Even for the salmon that won't hit anything.

pretty sure north fork stilly is fly fishin only!

Not later in the season, it opens up for gear for the winter run. And it's still fantastic! Although if you hit it now, the competition is very low, you're liable to get a good hole all to yourself. Been fishing it off and on, and it's been reliable for good numbers on the fly still.

Yea, mostly summer run. Although we've been seeing some brighter fish that could qualify as B-run summers or early winters. Got our first winter run out of the Wallace on monday, so they're coming!

Me and my spey rod spend ALOT of time on the northfork, if you cant find a steelhead you will find a fat dolly that is hungry. December 1st the river opens up for Tackle fishing. Fortson holds good numbers of fish along witht he picnic table hole down the river. c-post was a good walk in hole but the flood messed it all up last year. mouth of deer creek in oso is another good spot for swinging flies

I know the N fork opens Dec 1st for tackle and bait... Have done pretty good at C post and fortson hole.... If the amount of fish on the sky is any indication of what's to come, I'll be putting my time in up there

I've flyfished both the North and South forks during the winter and done relatively well. Big purple flies are what I've hit them on.
