Snohomish River Lowell Coho

Post by snoco » Sat Oct 13, 2012 5:29 pm

I've been hitting the Snohomish River on Lowell for the last couple of weeks. Hooked a few silvers and a searun cutt off of the bank using a variety of different methods. They were rolling and carrying on until early last week and I haven't seen any movement at all from them. Went out today, thinking the rain might have pushed them up, but still nothing doing. Anyone else had any luck on lower Lowell or at least seen one jump?

I have seen them jumping. I was out yesterday afternoon. I actually had one on the line for about 10 seconds before it spit the hook. The river is muddy and high, but the fish are still there.

What oneshot said, I might even hit up the wallace this weekend
There are some achievements which are never done in the presence of those who hear of them. Catching salmon is one, and working all night is another.

Thanks guys. Went out the last couple of days, chums are definetly in. I can get them to bite, but they're mouthing it and I can't get a hook set. I'm just drifting eggs with orange and purple yarn on a 6' leader with a bobber. Orange, purple, hot pink, and black are the colors I'm seeing action on.

How much visibility does the lower river have right now? I'm guessing 1-2 feet?

Visibility is right around 2-3 feet now. Went out this morning and didn't get anything. Lowell is blown out, so I went to the sky, its in good shape, but not much going on.

Thank you snoco. hmmm. 2-3 feet is fishable, but I suspected it would be blown a bit. I'm considering plunking for a spell in a current slot tomorrow around dusk/low tide. We haven't really had any appreciable rain since the last big event Thursday night. I think precip. levels today and tonight will decide it for me.

I'm on this thread because I'm one of those that prefers the lower river - I need my own space.

I hear ya. I have a really hard time fishing arm to arm with people. At least on the lower river, even if you don't catch anything it is still pleasant. I'll probably head out after work and hit lowell on my way home, about the same time you're thinking. Hopefully you'll hook something.

just to follow up: I noticed the Sky watershed got another 1.25 inches yesterday as that line of rain passed through. Now more widespread stuff is coming today...I think I'll pass for now.

Btw, here is Ted's latest take on this spot:

I passed too. The lower river is totally blown out now, and with more rain to come I think that will about do it. I wish you guys luck. I'm holding out for winter run.
