Wallace River

Post by tsath24 » Tue Sep 11, 2012 7:19 am

Confused...On location of the Wallace that's open from September 16th-November 30th...Mouth meaning where the Wallace and the Sky meet, up from that to the railroad bridge? Is that the specific area that's open for that time frame?

Area that's open on Nov. 1st is that from the railroad bridge and upstream?...

I usually go across that 363rd bridge and drive along Reese Road a little ways until you see a gravel area on the lefthand side. BEWARE of the Monroe redneck tweekers/twackers though.... :-#

No clue on whether it's private property or not. I'm assuming it is, because there are a couple houses at the end of Reese Road...I actually don't know much about wading into private property...is it allowed or are they allowed to shoot you? lol

Wondering if you're also allowed to park and fish by the hatchery like you are allowed at reiter...

You can park at the Hatchery, but walking to the hwy 2 bridge then walking up stream to the mouth is a LOOOOOOOONG walk. I see people park on the side of the road on Hwy 2 to fish the local holes.

In looking at an overhead map of the salmon hatchery it doesn't even look like it's open to the public or accessible by the public though...hmmm That would be a long trek from the hatchery to the bridge... ](*,)

Oh well that answers that, haha. Good to know that you can park there. Yeah I would definitely trust my car there instead of along side of a road where it is more visible. Are you allowed to hike to the back of the hatchery to the river or is that off limits?...

It's just so sad what everyone has to deal with because of the Tweekers. I always have the same feeling when parking at Reiter Hwy side.

You are allowed to park at the hatchery and walk behind it to access the river. It is a bit confusing though cause the bridge you walk over says authorized personal only but if you go over it and keep going another 20-30 yds theres another sign that says public fishing. However i went there recently and the public fishing sign has been taken down so don't know about that. I'm sure many people will still be going back there to fish when it opens. Also in the regs it says 200' above the intake but usually when it opens theres a no fishing sign and the cutoff is actually 200' below the intake.

that is a much better (safer) walk, i always wondered how people got to all the upper holes, it was a pain going up from the bridge
