Last time I was there they were having a warehouse sale and I picked up a couple of classic glass downrigger rods. You may be able to score on a returned rod or a discontinued model, it never hurts to look around. [thumbup] If you are into building your own rods, be sure to check out the blanks and other materials.

never built a rod and wouldnt even know where to start. fishing a fenwick HMX right now and was considering upgrading to a st croix avid. thought if i was in the area i would swing in.

what should i look for that would be comparable to a st croix avid in both price and performance?

Fenwick HMX was my first rod i bought over here, really liked it, ended up giving it to a buddy of mine. As for Lemiglas ive a Northwest special which has taken some abuse, a mag tapper and a classic glass i use in the sound and fishing for macks love them all.

I have a hmx medium fast 9' rod. My buddy has a 9'6" avid series that I really like. I am torn between getting a 9'6" or jump to a 10'6". I river fish almost exclusively and spend most of my time on the sky, cow, puke, Wallace, and sno.

Might be a silly question but where is this magical sounding place?

when returning from Merwin Reservoir to get on I-5 north, it's on the footage road on your right just before you get on the freeway.
