Looking for info on a rumored 59" from Merwin this weekend

Post by Dex » Sun Jul 29, 2012 1:21 pm

All,

I have heard from three different anglers that a monster 59" Tiger was caught and released from Lk Merwin on Friday (27 July) and would like to gather some FACTS and of course a Picture. I have no reason to discount this story, but unless more details/photo's surface this will unfortunately remain a story.
Let’s see what we can find out

Thanks
ND

And just so you goobs know..the world record Tiger Musky is 51"- 51 lbs.. and how much did that 50 incher from Curlew weigh in at ? I saw the band wagon move in the other section about getting 50" inchers on the musky log with m.i...those 50" inchers plus.. that have been caught already are getting into world record categories friend! You won't have to be in a club to get recoginition for catching one of those you know. See ya, Todd

Heard similar but I'm skeptical of a tiger at 59
inches but this is something I hope I can be wrong about. I guess we'll see...

Hey Todd, you may not need to be in a club to get world record recognition but it helps to be in a club if you want to get any recognition for catches made. Being a club member allows you to fish a number of tournaments that you other wise would not be able to fish, and being a Muskies Inc. member can bring national recognition. Club members do a lot to help the fisheries locally, there wouldn't be as many fish to catch if it wasn't for the clubs.

Very true slammerscott. Todd, Chris's fish was estimated at 40 pounds. It was 50" long x 25" girth. Band wagon? Really Todd? I think I remember someone else posting here earlier this summer that nobody was fishing. Just trying to get the state a little recognition for having a great tiger program. We pat them on the back and they keep the program rolling. National recognition strokes everyone's egos, especially those that support and administer the program. While I am skeptical as you about a 59" tiger, Norm is just trying to get the scoop. SO everyone keep their eyes and ears open for the scoop.

While most fish will grow within normal limits, there are alwayse ones that are outside the norm.

I hope the rumor is true. That would be a beast.

Hey Norm, any update on this?

The thought of a 59 got me all hot & bothered and talking about Tigers. The wife and I added a trip to Mayfield as a result.

The 2 park rangers at Speelyia told me and my buddy that the guy who caught it took some pics and let er' go. He came in put his boat on his trailer and left. I think it coulda been the ghost of Gil Hamm screwing with all the musky fishermen. Actually the rangers told me that the guy that caught it had some koke fishermen nearby that may have seen the fish too. So if any koke fishers saw it and can vouche for the fish that would be awesome. Also just to add I talked to a guy at a tackle shop in Woodland and he hadn't heard anything yet. But that is a pig of a fish.
