Traveler's Log

Post by Gringo Pescador » Sat Oct 20, 2007 2:11 pm

This is close to what fishinislife brought up in the last string, but a little different. How about a traveler's log forum? We can post our traveling fishing adventures as well as ask for references and info when planning one. Some examples:
The post I did (I think in Off Topic) after returning from Puerta Vallarta.
GPC's friend was traveling to the east coast recently and looking for information for fishing over there.
And now that cavdad has his digital camera, he can fill us in on his next Florida adventure!
I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun. ~ John Volker

I think it would be a great idea! I know it would give me ideas on where I want to take my next big fishing trip! Likewise it would give a place to share that trip with my WL.com buds when I return!

I really like this idea too! I'm saving up to go to Alaska next August/September (I've never been). It'd be very helpful to have a forum to ask travel-advice on, and then later brag about my trip on (hopefully). I've often thought it'd be neat on the main page if you could report "out of state" trips (then WL.com could include every fishing trip you ever go on!), but I like this idea much better since it'd allow you to ask the whole forum for advice.

PM me when you are doing your planning for AK. I have a friend who's son owns a fly shop/guide service in Anchorage. He can furnish a lot of info.

I actually have a friend who owns a son that can get u back! lol!! Keep up with me guys! That is a fabulous idea and I'll totaly check it out. I think my next thread (string) will be, "where have you been", there we can all get/give great recommendations and contacts for get-aways with our friends and family. Remember, you heard it here 1st!!!!

Fishnislife, what a fun idea for a topic. With all the ideas we should have a travel string. Out of state reports, travel log, next vacation help, etc.

As far as Alaska goes, too cold for my family. Could never talk my wife into that. We like swimsuit beaches near my fishing.

Thanks Mark! I'm not sure if I'll be able to afford Anchorage, but if there is anyway I can do Anchorage on a Ketchikan budget I'd love to.

We now have an outside Washington fishing reports forum to post the reports on. I'd love to see some of you guys write up a travel fishing adventure article to be posted in the Tacklebox Tales section for some of these Trips of a Lifetime. As to the Travel Log forum, I think that can fit into the realm of the Outside Washington Forum as well.

I'm working on one. When finished do I send it to you via email?
