Re: Opening Weekend April 28! Where's Everyone Going???
A buddy invited me to his place on a private lake last year & I guess I behaved, because I'm invited back. Fishing is fun, no boats - everyone is just chilling on their docks, typically a fish every cast, so I try lots of wierd things to see what they might hit that I wouldn't typically use on Trout.
That's cool & all, but the best part is the breakfast! All I really remember was the awesomest bacon w/ biscuits & gravy & fresh squeezed OJ...the rest a blur of eggs & spices and hashbrowns. Yeah, I didn't used to even consider going out on the opener...but I'll be getting up @ 4am this Saturday!

I'll be taking the "pack test" for wildland fire fighting, so I'll be too sore on the opener to fish. Sunday I'll be at Riffe Lake, but Monday morning (after the dang opener crowd has thinned out) I'll be fishing Lake Walker in King County.

I'll be counting the days down until a little distance has come and gone from the opener. But, I'm not too old to remember what great times it was growing up.

Fishing American.
Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook
He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

I HAVE A QUESTION FOR OPENING DAY!!!!!!!!
does anyone know if you keep 5 fish on one lake, does that mean u can or cannot keep any other fish on another lake?

Re: Opening Weekend April 28! Where's Everyone Going???
Daily limit, 5 fish, period. Only 2 can be from rivers. 5 fish and you're done! Don't miss the part that says " When fishing with bait, all fish equal to or greater than the minimum size are counted as part of the daily limit " whether released or kept.

yea i hear ya, i rarely use powerbait cause i hate quitting after 5. i troll lures and catch as many as possible. LOL but i had never known the answer to the rule. And yea bro, im gonna be on silver for the derby in the morning, gonna take a break, then go to padden in the afternoon for some dry fly fishing when the boat numbers diminish. we nailed SO many fish last year opening evening on dry flies when they start to rise. theyll bite anything that moves on the surface. its really fun. gimme a shout if ya see me out there!

Re: Opening Weekend April 28! Where's Everyone Going???
Opinions wanted.
I want to take my friends six year old boy fishing on Saturday.
Our original plan was to fish the Mineral lake derby. We have never been, and have been waiting since last year for this event. I really want to get his son excited about fishing, and know he will have a good time as long as he is catching fish. However last weekend I trolled American lake, and couldn't keep the trout off. Since bills released their decent sized trout, I know that American is a sure bet for non stop action. Plus the kokes are heating up. I know that Mineral lake will be full of "cookie Cutters" and either way we will be catching fish.
His father and I planned on leaving around 2 am. (from FT. Lewis) just to get the boat on the water in Mineral at a decent time. Or we could launch at American at 0500, and get some more rest.
I have been fighting with myself all week and changing my mind about what we will do three times a day. Every time I call my friend to tell him I have changed my mind again, he assures me that they are down for whatever.
My question is,
Should we head to mineral in chase of a lunker triploid, or stick to what I know at American and put this little boy on a limit of 14+" bows?
Either way by tomorrow evening the boat will be hooked up and leaders tied. Tight lines, and thanks for all suggestions in advance.

Too many good species, options at American lake, hands down! And kokanee waking up! Wouldn't even consider putting the kids money on a broodstock gamble at mineral lake . Have fun. He will appreciate your time.

Thank You!
That is what I have always known in the back of my head, but the chance of him pulling up a monster for his first fish just kept blinding me.
I guess there is still a chance for a whopper holdover in American as well though.
Since this is the last fishing trip before another vacation in Afghanistan, maybe luck will be on our side.
Thanks for your response
American it is.

Park Lake for me. It's the lake at Sun Lake State Park.
