One Rod, One Lure

Post by Dan360 » Tue Apr 24, 2012 7:18 pm

You've been picked to be on some gimicky/rinky-dink bass fishing competition on TV with a grand prize of a million dollars. You'll be fishing on your favorite lake versus every BASSMASTER/FLW angler of the year from the past 10 years. You can take one rod/reel and one lure/bait. What lake are you on and what do you choose?

I'd be fishing Lower Granite Lake or around Cascade Locks for smallmouth using my new Shimano Crucial Spinning rod with Stradic 2500 reel loaded with 10lb Fluorocarbon. 1/0 Gamakatsu wide gap off-set hooks, 1/8 oz bullet weight and watermelon Yamamoto Tubes.
There is certainly something in angling that tends to produce a serenity of the mind. ~Washington Irving

El Salto and a big ol swimbait...
I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun. ~ John Volker

What time of year is it? That might make a difference in what I bring.

Other than that, I'd bring my Loomis STR1082c and my Curado 200e7 spooled with 12 lbs Maxima. I'd bring this suspending jerk bait that my grandad passed down to me, my all time favorite lure to use. I'd be fishing largemouth on Lewis County's Swofford Pond.

That is a nice looking jerk bait. Its shape reminds me of the first one I made.

I don't have much of a bass arsenal rod wise, so I guess it would have to be my Shimano Crucial Casting Rod mated to my Curado 101D.

I have $60,000 invested in a boat, motor, gear and baits all to catch a fish with a brain the size of a pea. I wouldn't have it any other way.

The rod brand ? heavy, fast action. Reel I like the Quatum PT. Line at least 65 lb braid. Lure 3/4 oz jig with two split tail trailers or two craw trailers. Toledo Bend, La. April or May. or Lake Seminole Fl. same time of year.
