Used quite frequently among offshore fisherman for big game fish, tuna, etc.

They refer to them as dredges/teasers/umbrellas, whatever.... Although these ones have no hooks, and are just used to create the schooling baitfish sensation to attract the fish to the spread of lures being trolled alongside....

Now when Im fishing the sound and the doggies and Hake take all my bait I rig at least ten trebles or single hooks on one line and jig for herring or anchovies. I think that rig is used to catch baitfish.

xxxxx
I have $60,000 invested in a boat, motor, gear and baits all to catch a fish with a brain the size of a pea. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Alright I will throw in my 2 cents, I will be fishing this rig when the conditions are right. The one I will be throwing is mfg by paycheck baits called the donkey thrasher. see the video http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/vlogpage ... de=VLOG179" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; , I have already used this on a lake in California this year and let me tell you the possibilities of this bait are endless.

Can you say cha ching with the checks I will cash this year..

Wow that is a nifty fishing rig. I want one for fishing Silvers. Even with perch or crappie. What good action it gets. Thanks jig for sharing that.Seriously for trolling for salmon having that (minus the hooks )would simulate a school of herring. Thus attracting fish close to your boat.

One might want to check the regs as far as the amount of hooks that are allowed in WA. Not something I'll be tossing but interesting none the less.

Where is the skill in tournament Bass fishing today?
With GPS and sonar, boats that run faster than some cars.
Reels that are just mini winches, rods that all but send up a little flag when you get bit.
80 lb test lines to land a 8 lb fish.
Now we are told the hottest thing in Bass fishing is a way to fish multipul baits at one time.
When will the tournament minded concider the resource?

They do make and sell a 3 bait umbrella rig, if your not into dummies without a hook.
Seems a down sized bait, a little easier to throw.
Tacklewarehouse has a dedicated section to these types of baits.

Cast first, worry later.

This is one of hundreds of tactics, I dont see this changing anything its just another lure and its $25 if you break off on a snag. Not many tourney won buy a guy that just bought a bunch of stuff and casted this lure. Gotta know what you doing+ luck+ good gear+ time on water+ knowlege :salut:
