BANKS LAKE ICE??

Does anyone know if there is any ice on Banks Lake yet? I remember fishing Banks for whitefish through the ice many years ago. I haven't tried it in over 15 years. The water levels seem to change over there a lot. I remember going one time and when we got to Electric City there was not even any water to be found, let alone ice. That's a long drive from Spokane just to find no ice or water. Any info on the water or ice over there would be appreciated. I would love to try it again. They used to bite real good at night. You could fish past midnight and keep a limit for the day you started and one for the next day (after midnight). If you've never caught a 22" whitefish through the ice you don't know what you're missing. They are great fighters.

I drove through Coulee City yesterday and there's no ice because there's no water. The feds have it posted so that you can't walk on the lake bed to get out far enough to get to the little ice that there is.

Pic of the Coulee city boat basin from last fall and they haven't added any water as of yesterday

BigD,
Thanks for the quick reply. You saved me a trip. That's too bad those whiteys are a ton of fun to catch.

it got to be 15 degrees in Wenatchee last night and its supposed to be like this for week or more.. so I would think things will be locking up hard around here!

I just got a report from a friend of mine in Eastern Canada. Hes been trying out two new Rapala jigs and slaying perch and crappie. Its a w-2 or w-3 Rapala in silver. Just an fyi for ice fishermen .

It works on some lakes and not on others. It works on Evergreen and not that good as Swedish Pimple or tiny jigs on Fish lake.

I was just wondering if the ice has changed since then because it has been fairly warm lately...

It's about the same, just a little less slush.

Fish Lake had 18 inches of ice on Feb 8th. Caught a dozen perch up to 9 inches.

Roses, 6-8" as of yesterday.... A little water on top in places but solid.... about 20-30 anglers out there yesterday. 3 trout and 17 perch for me... The best bite was dawn and a couple hours into daylight. A bit spooky walking out onto ice in the heavy predawn fog, but well worth it.... Saw some blue sky and that round yellow thing in the sky. Used chains to get out of parking area, since I don't have 4x4.

Dry lake 4-6" as of yesterday.

Eloika and Waitts lake still has a healthy 8-10" of ice! Fishing is steady if you find the fish but if not it's pretty slow! Lots of perch and crappie on both lakes! GL fishing and be safe;)

10-12 " on Curlew as well............. finding the fish is definitely a challenge this winter. Williams lake north of Colville has 8" halfway out to the aerator. The aerator area is open water for about 25' around it. Pierre has a good 16-18" of ice and the road to the launch is plowed, making access very good.

What kind of fish at this lake?
