So, will it be legal?

You are focused on Steelhead, and they are great fish. Still, what about weighted swim bait hooks, etc. That so many of us use.

PS, one source for steel head jigs does not make brass jigs commercially available to all.

I wonder if one of the bill,s sponsor owns stock.

One thing is for sure. No matter which side you are on, our representatives should hear from us.

Well in mind yes, how are they going to know which type of brass I have.

Well I don't think the companys will just give up, they will most likely use Tungsten. Cost??

Well there is several suppliers for brass jigs, and or supplies, so I think that part will be OK

That would be most of the state. No science backed that up either.

If your friends are using bullets with lead cores then it is just a matter of time.

Well after reading about it, it is lead hunting ammo that is banned, not everyday ammo, that is why they can buy cases at a time with out problem.

Remember that lead is cheap but brass requires machine work. All other heavy metals require super high heat and are very costly. Is it the intent only the rich be able to afford TACKLE?

It might be going that way anyways :thumbdown

Lead is cheap and plentiful. Tungsten is pricey, , I understand it takes 6200 degs to melt Tungsten, which will make the cost go up. But what I am wondering is how plentiful is Tungsten?? ( Yes I know it is used in light bulbs, but they use very small amounts.)

I'm pretty sure that they're all snowed in at the moment, I sent mine just a few days ago as soon as this thread started. It was the first I'd heard of it. I doubt they'll get back to us at all, we'll just have to wait until they ignore us and make it law.

My reps are opposed to it for various reasons.

It is considered semi-rare. I use Tungsten powder in some lures I make. It cost $40/Pound. I can get lead for $4

..well lead is still a bad substance no matter what side of the fence you sit on in this perticular subject. I have no problem with the ban, i dont drift fish but i sure use more lead than most as i use my downriggers so Yes it will suck. But to remove something outta the evenvironment that is poisonous, i am all for it.

Even if there is no science to support your position?

We don't agree. But instead of telling you you don't belong on this forum I will suggest that you also tell your reps.

you have obviously never been to a hazmat programme have you? If your telling me that lead is not bad for you i really cannot argue with you. Granted im not eating spilt shot or licking lead paint, but the fact of the matter is over exposure equals lead poisoning. here is a simple web look up

I never told you "you dont belong on here so get off your high horse mate"

But you applauded when your bud told someone else they didn't belong.

Would seem that you need to clean the crap from your house before you tell me to clean mine, mate.

Yes, taught hazmat, taken hazwopper, degree in chemistry.

Here's the link I used earlier to ask my reps to "kill the bill", 2241. It's very easy to use. It contacted all 3 of my state reps, state house and senate. Just enter name, address, ph #. It'll hook ya up. I liked what Nate provided also, that gets you to the committee, better to kill it in committee than fight it in the House.
For those that prefer to use lead for fishing purposes, I've re-posted this painless link.

If ingested, lead is bad. Lead in of itself , i.e. in a river, on the bottom of a lake, it's inert. It poses no threat. It's simple. Do some research
