Because they know darn well that some folks will abuse the system and keep everything they catch, native or not.

I suspect it also has something to do with the breeding cycle of our native crayfish. Mating occurs in fall and females hang onto the eggs through the winter until they hatch in the spring.

hey Stace...did some research and didnt come up with much... are there lakes where there are infestations of "exotic/non native" mud bugs???..where i guy(person) could take his traps fish'n with him and TARGET the exotics and C&R all the wilds/natives?...are there reports/studies that i missed in my search..thnx again...DOG

Dog - there is one lake in particular that has a problem with the non-native crayfish and it is Pine Lake in Issaquah. As Pine Lake is so close to Lake Sammamish I doubt it will be long before we see them in high numbers throughout the Lake Washington system.

Has any one out there actually caught any at pine lake, I live in redmond and am goin in the next few weeks. Any locations on the lake or tips would be very appreciated.

UW does studys there every year. I have caught plenty diving below the public dock. Are you going to be in a boat or shore bound.

We have a aluminum 12 ft boat, but our trolling motor isnt workin so i will probably take my float tube, you can go pretty much anywhere you can with a boat, maybe not distance wie. by the way how exactly do you dive for them, snorkel, what do you use?[huh]

I'm pretty sure they are pretty thick in lake Stevens, my dads place is at the southside of the lake and I have never put a pot out, but we would go flip rocks and almost all the bigger rocks (6in. Or bigger) there would be crawfish under

well for pine the best ive done was off the dock diving.

how deep is it and do u just use goggles or something else to catch em?

its pretty deep. idk the exact depth but deeper then 10ft and i just use goggles and pick em up with my hand.

ILL probably stick to a trap, i tried diving around 9 feet lasy year and I barely got up with breath, I havent really ever dove for anything.

I have triedleaving pots in lake washington and the sammamish slough with no luck, frozen salmon trimmings used as bait.
