Post by Deadeyemark » Mon Sep 17, 2007 9:00 pm

Hi folks.
Fantastic weekend. Great folks. Great resort. Great prizes and lots of em. Great to BS with everyone. Sure hope to do this again.
Tough fishin but a few showed us it could be done.
Friday evening was check-in and every team did just that.
Sat morning tourney meeting early with a random draw start w/reverse order on Sun.
Many thanx goes out to Bruce Bolding and Steve Caromile(WDFW)for spending the weekend with us as judges for the event using the WDFW boat. Ya done good guys.
Mayfield Resort let us use their banquet room for the entire weekend as tournament headquarters. They also put up a free supper for all contestants and judges Sat evening over a fantastic picture show by Bruce Bolding showing all of us fishing through out the day followed by dessert and a great tiger musky presentation by Bruce also.
Jack Tipping(father of WA tiger muskies and tourney angler)also shared some valuable info on tiger muskies.
I had a lot of help on this one folks so here are their names. Say hi when ya see them or better yet, come to the next Chapter meeting this Thursday evening and join us.
My wife Lori, Bill & Rosy Green, Todd and Graesen Reis and Perry and Jani Peterson. Couldn't have done it without ya guys. Thanx a bunch.
A big thanx goes out to all the sponsors for without them this would have been just a fishin trip. Next time you need some gear, visit these great folks.

There were two sub-legals caught also but I didn't mention them because one was this years plant and the other was last years plant. There were also quite a few nice trout caught by some of the trollers. I also know of one nice muskie that was broken off.

Well it sounds like you put together a good tournrey Deadeye, and had some good helpers as well. I wish I could have been there. I wouldn't have entered the tourney or anything because my experience/knowledge of the tiger is terrible at best lol. But I know I would have learned A LOT and got pointed in the right direction by some real muskie fisherman. Once again, good job it sounds like it was a lot of fun.

GPC,
Don't down play your experience. You'd have had a ball, met some great folks with the same interests and maybe measured a musky. Hope to see ya next time.

gpc: I have very limited experience. Only been hunting them seriously for a year and I had a blast.
SUCH good folks! And it was fun meeting the pack from Vancouver! We are planning a club outing to Merwin next year were we can hook up with them again.

And of course the MOST popular angler of the weekend, who stole everyone's heart, was Lucy, fish pointing retriever in the 2nd Place boat!

After 2 days of throwing lures every few seconds and coming up empty, I had to say I experienced a little dejection.

Then I looked around the banquet room at the Awards assembly and realized I was in the room with some of the BEST muskie fishermen in the State. And a few of them got skunked, too! So, you know what they say....

"It's the next cast!"

LOL

Gotta love this addiction.

KUDOS to everyone!
The anglers who participated in this tourni were great!
Everyone greeted each other with rounds of "good Luck" as we headed out pre-dawn,
whether they knew each other or not.
It was about the camaraderie and having fun right from the start.

However, this tournament could not have happened if it weren't for the leadership and experience
provided by the Tournament Director.
Mark was quick to thank each and every one of us that helped out,
now we would like to extend a special thank you to Mark.
He is dedicated to the Tiger Muskie.
He is dedicated to the Chapter.
He also brings years of experience.
He spent many hours covering every detail to make sure it was professionally run.
His generosity meant a good time for all who fished.
When you see him be sure to say "Thanks" !
