I wonder what this will do to the Springers and smelt runs. Will the fish head up river or will they scatter? Anyone have any idea?
When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

Either they will run up river as fast as they can or they will scatter. No one knows. A Tsunami WARNING is in effect from the Columbia river mouth south to central California coast line!

Wow! Cargo ships tossed around like bathtub toys and a gigantic whirlpool![scared] Unbelievable!
Did anyone notice anything on the coast or in the Sound? They had some extensive damage in Crescent City, CA.

~Men and fish are alike. They both get into trouble when they open their mouths.
~My biggest worry is that my wife (when I'm dead) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it.

Wasn't even noticable in Ocean Shores, a little farther north there was a 3' swell
RE:Tsunami Advisory Issued for Washington Coast
They reported 1/2 foot swells in the Puget Sound.
RE:Tsunami Advisory Issued for Washington Coast
I saw some chop on Elliot bay from out the window, but it's been worse on a windy day. Heheh. That wouldve been kinda of neat to see it on the jetty at westport, a wave from all the way across the ocean. Any body get pictures from the coast?
RE:Tsunami Advisory Issued for Washington Coast
Takin pix is how that dude got swept away down in Cali. When someone tells you a tsunami is coming I would suggest NOT going down to the beach for a photo op, lol.natetreat wrote:I saw some chop on Elliot bay from out the window, but it's been worse on a windy day. Yeaa, but when I woke up at 6 am, they said they expected 3 foot swell and were evacuating only ground floor rooms in hotels on the coast. So somebody had to be up higher taking pictures.

You know this seems far away. But......... the Pacific Northwest also sits on the Ring of Fire, just like Japan does. I listened to a geologist being interviewed today on the radio saying that the U.S. is not immune to such a large shift of the undersea plates. He also said that off the coast of Washington, it could happen and with the same intensity. Can you just imagine.:pale:

I know Marc, I have seen science shows on TV about massive Tsunamis hitting the Washington coast and they fully expect it to happen, it is just a matter of when.

RE:Tsunami Advisory Issued for Washington Coast
i forgot which show I was watching but it was about the ring of fire quakes and tsunamis and the tsunamis where to stop in oklahoma it was a good show with alot of computer generated action on how this all is supposed to go down talking of end of the world. earthquakes supposed to drop all of the western seaboard in the ocean. to cause this massive Tsunami but starts with the biggest quake from san andres to which ever fault we have here in the pac NW. I will say the world is really changing from a sink hole to worse and worse earth quakes. floods and droughts. solar flares moon close to the earth. and the list goes on.

"The last megathrust earthquake at the Cascadia subduction zone was the 1700 Cascadia earthquake, estimated to have a moment magnitude of 8.7 to 9.2. Based on carbon dating of local tsunami deposits, it occurred around 1700. As reported in National Geographic on 8 December 2003, Japanese records indicate the quake caused a tsunami in Japan which occurred during the evening of Tuesday, 26 January 1700."
