Musky fishin in N. Idaho
There are 5 lakes in N. Idaho near me that have Tiger Muskies in them. Hauser is the largest and most popular place to fish them, but Blue lake, Dawson, Freeman and Shepard lakes all have some Muskies in them. Has anyone ever fished any of these smaller lakes? I was bass fishing at Blue lake last year and throwing a small Basstrix smiwbait into the pads. I saw a big wake and the pads start to move and bang, my bait was gone. I was only using 12lb. test mono so I didn't stand a chase at landing whatever bit. What-ever it was it was not a bass. My best guess would be a nice size Tiger but I didn't see anything but the wake it made and it was big. I have fished this lake some for the Tigers and I think it had Pike in it also with some of my large Sink-N-Fool baits and so far the only fish I have gotten on them are some monster 4LB. + Bass.
I plan to fish this one alot more as it's pretty close to me. So have any of you guys fished any of these small waters and if you are what are you using?

I too, would love to come over. If I did though, it would be with my canoe. Don't want to have to do all the BS involved to sanitize the boat afterwards....

Ahh, come on Doug... it is not really that hard to pick-up all those empty Frito Corn Chip bags from the bottom of your boat is it!!!!:jocolor: LOL!....sorry, I couldn't resist. Idaho, certainly is a beautiful place. I hope to get the opportunity to fish there someday... especially for Muskie!

Does Hauser still have Muskies, I was under the impression that they quite stocking it and most of the Muskies got catch. There minimum size is what 36 or 42? Also heard of people keeping them that were undersize. They have not stocked it for 3.5 years now. http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/apps/stock ... h_data.cfm

bad esox, It can get difficult finding all of those Idaho potato chip bags in my boat after a long day fishing!
Kfedk, I think their web site is a little out of date. Not sure, but I think they have still been stocking.

Where did you catch that beauty in your AVATAR? Looks like a pure strain muskie by the head. As for hauser, I heard the home owners hate the tigers because they believe they are eating all the bass so some of them I believe started a petition to try and stop the stocking. Last I heard though they were still stocking it though!!
