Shout out to New Mexico
I understand a Tiger Muskie lover from Chapter 59 has joined in on the forum. Is that true? We've seen the pictures heard of the success and know your out there. We would sure like to hear some stories from our friends to the south. >:"":>

Hello Chapter 59!!!,
Great to See we have fellow Musky Hunters to the South!!! I am certainly interested to see what kind of stories and information there is in the New Mexico Area. Great to see that this sport is growing and expanding thru out the nation!!! Look forward to hearing more about what is going on down South. Keep the Lines Tight and Reels crankin.

Tiger Muskies are sterile.
You can't keep them under 50 inches:

Welcome Chapter 59! There is not much more for me to say here... At least for me anyway...LOL... Thanks for checking out WashingtonLakes.com
I think it will be pretty cool to hear, and view photos, from you "Tiger Hunters" down there in New Mexico every now and then. Remember, I'm sure we can always find a place for any of you fellow M.I. Members in one of our boats should you ever wish to come to Washington to chase Tigers with any of us! Maybe get a few New Mexico Anglers together and come to Washington for one of our tournaments this year?
How about a little friendly competition this year amongst our three Chapters? Let's see who can get that Muskies, Inc., "Longest Release for 2011" for a Hybrid! Sounds like some fun to me... I think Chapter 57 would have got the title for 2010 with Mike F. and his 49 inch, Lake Tapps Tiger... I know you have some nice fish down there in New Mexico!!! I've seen the pictures!
Yes, welcome Chapter 59!

Hey lets not forget year round fishing is found right in your back yard. Cudaman, January, Float tube, 44" monster. The bone head would have won lunker of the month for all of MI but he claimes he couldn't register it on the website. I think he is just playing modest!!:-"Dex wrote:Hmmmmmmmmm......

Oh and I think both lakes freeze over, but that shouldn't stop anyone. Here is the link to a guy catching a tiger through the ice on salmon eggs (the ones in the can you buy from walmart)

Ch. 57 Kenster here... AKA the Traveler. ch59mi, weather sucks here in WA. You have room, time and fish for me down south, or need I hit the true Mexico again? Thinking of going East again this year but if New Mexico is hot I might just head south NOW and skip the eastern trip! Let me know my MI brother.

RE:Shout out to New Mexico
Have no fear for I am here! Thanks for all the kind comments guys, I'll be glad to share reports and talk tigers anytime. Not sure I'll be of much help though, this will be my 4th year targeting them so I learn more every year... every trip out actually! I learn, the more I fish for these things the more I realize I actually don't know how to catch them! LOL During August and September I was averaging 5 bites a day and landing 3, several would be juveniles and then 1 or 2 healthy adult tigers. I've caught 97 tigers (including juveniles) since June 10 2007 when I landed my first tiger and NOT ONE has been over 40"! It's driving me nuts, I took a couple folks out last year for there first time tiger fishing and BAM 40 or 41.5 for their first fish ever!! I'll get my big fish this year... hopefully. I plan o nfishing big this year, not 10+" baits but spring bulldawgs, FCS Spinners and spinnerbaits, Tyrant Czar Crnakbaits, Sebille magic swimmers, Dynamo's etc... Maybe that'll do the trick!? I'm hoping release # 100 is my 45" GRANDMA!!

Both of our tiger lakes are actually frozen over right now. They usually de-thaw around late February or mid March. Make sure to give us a holler if your ever planning a spring trip to NM to make sure the ice is gone!

We'll try to plan something like that in the future, I'll let the guys know about the offer and we'll see if any of them are heading that way this year... or have the free time/money! LOL It's been a tough year for many of us.
I think you'd wind that competition for sure, our tigers are yet to reach the size of some of the fish you guys have the opportunity to chase. We have BIG numbers right now but I believe the BIG Fish will be coming over the next few years. Bluewater was last estimated to have about 16-20 fish per acre, Quemado has about 11 fish per acre.
